if you have the voicepack dlc and have tomomo unlocked, use her. (she's the strongest character in normal mode) if not, brute force with speedup until you get either marc or fernet.
if you have expensive cards, bring them so that the cpus use them (theyre not smart but their rolls are rigged) and waste their stars
dont attempt extreme campaign until tomomo is unlocked.
What difficulty are you playing on?
If you are playing on any difficulty other than Normal, the RNG gets tampered with, so if you are on Original for example, that will give some character better odds than others, and if you are playing on Extreme then everyone has better RNG than you by design. But no matter what difficulty you choose, the game still runs on RNG no matter what so it could be the strategy and not necessarily the difficulty.
What character are you playing?
QP is my favourite character but she has no strengths or weaknesses, so she's often unimpressive but is also not much of a risk taker, so winning in Story Mode as her took me a bunch of tries.
Do you have Tomomo unlocked?
Anyone with +1 attack is generally good depending on your playstyle, but 100% Orange Juice has one top tier offline only character, and her name is Tomomo. So if you don't already have Tomomo (the unlockable base game character, not DLC) then I recommend getting Tomomo by saving up oranges and buying the purple square from the store which is a random character purchase (this is not guaranteed to give you Tomomo on your first try since it's random)
I've beat every Story Mode level on Extreme difficulty including all the DLC story and the Extra/Bonus ones, all using Tomomo. So I strongly recommend acquiring Tomomo if you are struggling with Story mode.
Other than that, I recommend buying cards and packing a deck that compliments your character and their playstyle. If you're going with an attacker, bring battle cards, stuff to heal with, stuff to come back with (like "Extend" which revives you on the next turn), and don't worry about card cost. If you are going with a star hoarder, consider bringing less expensive cards, and bring cards made for star gain like Nice Jingle, Holy Night, Encore (for bonus panels a.k.a. star panels), Lucky Charm, Poppo the Snatcher
once you understand this game it's very easy to beat story even on extreme difficulty
-Play on casual, royally (ab)use L-Shift+L-CTRL together for ultra speed, maybe pick Yuki if you've got acces to her as "Bullies" like her are among the best picks for Campaign (Tomomo would be even better).
If you want to beat the Campaign on Extreme for the cosmetic rewards (Poppo Dice, Red/Purple Crown, various Homes, Pets and other Dice, etc):
-Put a brick (or other heavy object) on your Shift+CTRL buttons. No, seriously, you'll want to save your finger strenght on this one. You will be needing to hold down those buttons 24/7 as you play.
-Consider doing the Campaign quickly on Casual to unlock Tomomo if you haven't unlocked her yet. You can also attempt to buy her via the Shop by buying the purple warp-tile looking thing for 100 oranges, which unlocks one random non-DLC character for you (except Mio, presumably). Though that's best done when the unlock pool is small so you don't spend a fortune of Oranges on her. After that, pick Tomomo.
-Don't be shy about quick restarts if things look beyond winning early on. The RNG hates you, so avoid fighting CPUs (or stuff in general). When attacking CPUs, ensure your kill chance is 100% (they ABSOLUTELY WILL roll that 1 in 6 saving roll otherwise).
-Abuse AI stupidity. They only look at your HP and your stats, but that's it, they will avoid engaging a full-HP opponent with sufficiently dangerous-looking stats, even if they can beat you 3 times over with RNG on their side or if you where playing as Flying Castle. Stay healthy, stay in the race.
The AI is a random roulette type AI whose only smart move is knowing when to route back home to norma. They are ineffecient, and you can out-race them to the finish via a lucky KO or smart play.
---
Beyond that, I cannot recommend Campaign play besides that one time for the unlocks. Online is where the fun is at.
press shift+ctrl+alt, release shift and ctrl first, and the speed will stay increased after releasing alt.
I didn't know this, I always used the old technique of minimizing the game while I keep the ctrl + shift holding (pressing alt + tab), because when you minimize the game fullscreen while holding keys they keep pressing down until you press them again.
I'll test it when I open the game.
1. Use Tomomo and just attack everyone you see. Should be extremely strong on the lower 2 difficulties to win with little thinking or effort or attention to get fast wins if you are playing at max speed.
2. Use Saki and abuse that they don't really like to go where traps are if they're avoidable. So if you put a piggy bank 1 space from a junction, they should just never pick it up. This can also keep them away from the bases on certain maps so they'll just almost never win. And if you bring path blockers her hyper can really rack up a whole bunch of stars.
3. Use Marie Poppo and try to avoid fighting anyone and then just swoop in with her hyper to just nab stars and normas when the opportunity arises.
4. Use the Cuties with 10 event cards and laugh at how terrible the cpu tries to avoid their hyper so you can just get lots of easy stars. Then just try to not die until you win but prioritize landing on bases for normas above almost anything.
5. You can also use Aru and just gain lots of stars with her hyper as an alternative to the above, but overall I don't find it as successful as the other strategies I've mentioned.
6. Brute force - just play lots of games really fast and you should get some good luck sometimes.
