Don't turn your Shroom Zoom into a Shroom Doom (know your Shrooms)
I haven't seen this information posted elsewhere, so I might as well do it here.

In this thread I'm going to tell you how you can tell the good shrooms from the bad ones, so if you don't want to know this or want to figure out yourself, I suggest you don't read this.

After playing several games, and paying attention to what the mushrooms do, then playing some aditional games to confirm, I've noticed that while the effects of the mushroom cards are randomised for each game, which mushrooms give you positive, neutral and negative effects stays consistent. So...

The bad shrooms are:
Pink, Red and Brown
These mushrooms will always give you one of these effects:
Gain -1/2/3 MOV on your next movement roll.
Lose Lvl x 1/2/3 star(s).
Gain -1/2/3 ATK during this battle.
Gain -1/2/3 DEF during this battle.
Gain -1/2/3 EVD during this battle.
Take 1/2/3 damage.
Only roll 1 in this battle.
Gain Confusion for 1/2/3 chapters. (actually reverses your cards)
Discard a random card.

The neutral gang is:
Blue, Yellow, Orange and Rainbow
You will get one of these effects from eating them:
Gain Frostwalker for 1/2/3 chapters.
Warp to a random panel.
No effect. (Boost)
No effect. (Battle)

Notice since there are only four neutral shrooms and four neutral effects, all of the above effects will always be in the game. If you get a neutral shroom and it's a battle card then you can be sure it's effect will be None

And last but not least the good boys and girls are:
White, Green and Purple
Using them is always safe and their effects are:
Gain +1/2/3 MOV on your next movement roll.
Gain Lvl x 1/2/3 star(s).
Gain 1/2/3 HP.
Gain +1/2/3 ATK during this battle.
Gain +1/2/3 DEF during this battle.
Gain +1/2/3 EVD during this battle.
Heal 1/2/3 HP. (Battle)
Only roll 6 in this battle.
Draw 2 cards.
Gain 1 win.

Funny how the one that resembles one of the most famous video game powerup items is always bad.

This seems against the spirit of the event if it's always possible to tell the good mushrooms from bad immediately. I honestly hope this gets changed.

That sounds about right.

Also the legendary ones are random as well, so most of the time I just discard it cause I don't care about bonus wins that late in the game. You'd think a famous mushroom would at least have a consistent effect and be worth collecting beyond bragging rights.

Making the legendary mushrooms the same every time would probably cause the event progress to have one meter finish way earlier than the other since the +stars is generally more preferable than the +wins, turning it into a game of "avoid one so you can get the other".

Sounds good to me. As is, I don't see the point of having two progress bars, or two colors, if they're effectively the same anyway. May as well combine them into one and give rewards every 16.66% instead of 33.33%.

Or if we complete the blue bar while red is still at 10%, they'd realize something was wrong and buff the red mushroom.

Oh:

This might change things.

I tested it with the new updated and yes, it's been fixed, so all the info in this thread is now useless https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2234844025

Huh, I didn't notice the color correlation before, though I did note that green ended up being "Pot of Greed" quite often in the games I'd played so far. Well, now it's more random, so no correlation exists anymore.

Even after the patch I've had multiple games play out exactly as outlined here, so the thread's still pretty useful I'd say.

Maybe they made it so these colors are more likely to be these effects, instead of always.

I played some online games and this mostly stays true, sometimes you will get one or two effects that don't follow the rule, but most of the time it gets consistent, at least in my own experience.
