Questions on the Treasure Update + FAQ

Haven't been able to play yet? Or would like to know more about the treasure? Here's some common questions.

Q: What's with the counter on the home screen?
A: It is the number of chests left before a reward is given out to all players online or offline.

Q: Is the reward from the global counter the same as the ones you get in game?
A: No, the global counter will give out a special reward to all players. The ones in game are sunglasses achievements.

Q: How do you get the rewards?
A: Collect the golden treasure box that is found every online game and keep playing for the random glasses drops.

Q: How many glasses are there for each character?
A: There is 1 regular glasses that drops randomly during gameplay, and 1 sunglasses that drops from the treasures.

Q: Where can I check which characters have the reward unlocked?
A: The sunglasses can be found when customizing your character.

Q: When does the treasure spawn?
A: It can spawn at any round after round 5 with a forced spawn at round 30.

Q: Is it possible to find the treasure in single player offline?
A: Yes, however, the forced spawn at round 30 is not guarunteed.

Q: If a CPU grabs the treasure, do I still get the reward?
A: Yes, all players in the game will get the reward.

Q: Can I still get the glasses rewards for characters I don't own if I join as that character?
A: Yes, but you won't be able to use them until you unlock the character.

The counter unlocks an additional reward (or multiple) when it hits 0. It's a global counter.
Each character has one pair of sunglasses with the gold chest. To check the rewards, look at your cosmetics list for each character. Making a list or noting down who you've had drops for will be easier to keep track on.

Golden chests spawn in all games. When it happens is random, but it happens sooner online than in single player.

If anyone in the game collects the golden chest, the global counter will decrease and you will receive sunglasses for the character you were playing at the end of the game. You can look at which characters have sunglasses unlocked when selecting their cosmetics.

As the counter decreases there are a few items that will be unlocked for all players. The first is a new map, the rest are surprises.

What if a CPU collects it? Would players still get the glasses?

If we're offline when the counter hits 0, do we still receive the special gifts, or are we out of luck and have to wait for the next counter?

Treasure Island will be unlocked for all players once a certain amount of golden chests are collected.

I know i dont have Yukis sunglasses already so i'm confused by this. So youre saying any player in game gets the golden chest then all players in that game get the drop afterwards?
I played as Yuki and another player collected the golden chest but i didnt get a sunglasses drop when the game ended.

Were you an active player in the game at the time the chest was picked up? In other words did you join the game after others had collected the chest or were you a spectator when it was collected?

Wait so do we have to rush getting the sunglasses or will everyone get the sunglasses regardless of whether they participated if the counter goes 0?

No, the reward for the counter hitting 0 is something else.

Another question for Kyle - if you can answer it.
Is the counter counting down available chests? As in, if the counter hits zero, will these chests stop appearing? That would make the sunglasses limited so I was wondering how serious I should be about getting those ~40 games in.
