Strategy for Star Breaker campaign?
Hey. So I just got the Star Breaker dlc and started playing the campaign. Normal difficulty, because I'm a nub.

So far, out of 3 completed missions, I've had the same thing happen over and over again; fail 2-3 times with Star Breaker, then pick a random character and win with them.

My main issue seems to be that there aren't nearly enough battle tiles, and the AI characters tend to spread all over the place and rush, which results in me barely getting any battles. In one game I was at chapter 20 without having had a single battle. :exas:

I know rng will be rng, but so far I have had no victories with Star Breaker at all. I know the character is good, because I've seen her causing some mayhem in online games, but either I'm horrible with her, or she isn't nearly as good vs AI.

I'm running full offensive decks; I'm on Fire, Ambush, Price of Power, Little War, Forced Revival, Accel Hyper, Party Time.

I've toyed around with Lonely Chariot for catching up the AI, but mostly resulted in me losing a bunch of hp and barely getting one or two extra wins. Sky Restaurant to stop the AI from meeting their normas, but it doesn't really make a difference. Extend so I can get back up right away, but it was mostly a waste since I rarely die, seeing how the issue is getting into actual battles, and not surviving them.

So... is there a good strategy for doing Star breaker's campaign as her, or should I just stick with random characters that aren't forced to get win victories?

i'd just play as anyone that isn't starbreaker because i despise starbreaker being forced into wins is a huge downside

alternatively you can play on casual as starbreaker since wins are much easier to come by on casual and if i recall correctly you get everything on casual anyway except for the poppo dice but like you don't get poppo dice on normal or original either so

She's actually not very good at all. As has been mentioned, being forced into Wins normas is an incredibly huge downside - probably the worst passive in the game, in fact, and she offers very little over other +2 Atk characters like Yuki to compensate for this disadvantage.
Just stick with other characters if you don't want to risk a headache.

If you do want to give Starbreaker herself a try, however, you'll want any cards that remove stars from play (Unlucky Charm is fantastic, but multiple Flip Outs also kinda work), cards that help you get into battles (Gentleman's Battle is probably the best if you also deck battle cards like Final Battle or Accel Hyper; otherwise, Party Time is now a decent option. Ambush is very situational and not very good, as is Assault.) and cards that help you kill things (battle cards like Final Battle, Accel Hyper and Big Magnum are pretty much your bread and butter, but Forced Revival can occassionally net you a couple of basically free wins as well). Traps like Piyopiyo Procession or Wanted seem good on paper, but are just too unreliable by virtue of being traps, especially on larger maps.

If you draw an Accel Hyper and the boss hasn't been killed yet, consider saving it for the boss to dispatch it more quickly, as otherwise its presence will quickly starve you of further wins.

Yeah, Star Breaker is one of the worst characters because of her reliance on wins only. People nearly always go for the Star Norma (unless they already met the win norma condition) because it's much easier to do. The longer the game goes on, the more stars it throws at you. Even bullies like Yuki pick stars because they get a lot of those anyway when they kill rich targets.

You should only really play SB if you want a challenge, just want to have fun and don't care much about winning or, perhaps the most important of all reasons, think she's a cutie.

Farm wins until the early game. Target those with high stars to reduce their chances of leveling up or winning. Stock up on some battle cards and transport cards. Battle Cards will be used to kill players faster or defend yourself. Transport cards mean cards that can let you gain on a player.
I gained a total of 1 win using this strategy. (Because RNG is with me)

-Starbo Main (Just kidding I main Kae)

Yeah. Gave her a few more chances, and then added her to the random exclusion list. If I want a handicap I can use the chicken with a troll deck. This character is just all around boring.

Funny you say that since Chicken is a better character than StarB. That passive is lowkey OP, and he's only really shut down on small maps where he can be KO'd often.

Oh, for sure. the chicken always makes for fun games for everyone involved, can result in some extremely funny scenarios, and isn't actually that horrible.

Press F to pay respects.

Chicken is fine to play against until you step on his hyper. Permanent stocked drops REEEEEEEE

I found that the decks and maps in campaign are generally stacked against the character associated with the campaign, so using a character that plays the exact opposite way is usually the best strategy. IIRC I did one Starbreaker level as her and the rest as Poppo.

The strategy is to play nothing but Tomomo since she's unnerfed and has an incredible stat spread.

EDIT: I swear someone necro'd this before me and deleted their reply so it looks like it was me. I'm not dumb enough to necro a thread since when I check discussions, I'm only on the most recent page or 2 and that's probably why it got me.

Yeah, pretty much this. I know it probably seems very lame, but because the campaign is more or less unreasonably hard, Tomomo is the way to go. This is because in single-player she has her broken stat spread of 6hp, 1evd, and 2 atk. By playing as Tomomo, you will be strong enough to KO the other players and defeat most encounter panels you face with ease. This will give you the wins you need and stars to use that norma as well. Don't be afraid to switch between them. Now what if you do have Tomomo? Use Yuki or use the purple crate in the shop. The bottom line is you need +2 atk to keep up with their damage output. The raw damage itself will carry the day. You can technically stick with your current deck, however, forced revival is debatable given that it can be used against you for terrible results. I advise Little War, Super all-out mode, I'm on fire, and Big Magnum, as they can easily turn your +2 atk into a +4/+5/+6 atk.

Mind you, this isn't to say Tomomo is the only method, (Fernet can block everything, aru can amass stars, etc) but it is the most common, given her broken stat line. Don't forget to hold ctrl + shift when playing to save yourself time as well, since you are likely going to fail many times. It must have taken me 30 tries to beat Tomomo hell on extreme. Normal shouldn't be as hard though.

Also, as others have said, don't be fooled by Star Breaker. She is not a good unit in general, and many new players are tricked into thinking so. When her RNG is good, she is powerful, but when you actually use her, you will generally be disappointed more often than not as you constantly roll 1-3, fall behind, or end up with 200+ stars and you can't win because of your passive.
