*Sigh*

The Sinking City was a unique game. Yes, it had its flaws, but I LOVED the idea, and I had a lot of fun with it. The cases were really interesting, and you never knew what to expect.

Well... they just decided to throw all that out and make another generic shooter/Resident Evil clone... great. And people will, of course, eat this up. Puzzles are made for toddlers (thinking isn't good in the year 2026), and if we can't go five minutes without shooting something, the audience will just watch TikTok instead.

Had to finish the game to give it an honest review because I had hope from the Very Positive ratings that maybe it gets better. Now after finishing it, imo this game is quite garbage. The combat is absolute ass: melees will miss 8 out of 10 times, every blow feels soft and unimpactful, and combat designs are honestly frustrating to the point I had to come back 3 times to finish the game.

The story is mediocre and makes very little sense so turn your brain off when playing; characters (protagonist and NPCs) also have very little development, have 0 depth to them, and are very forgettable.

Lastly, my biggest disappointment is that the game advertises itself as Lovecraftian but it really is just a generic zombie / monster resident-evil-esque game. A reskin of zombies with some tentacles does not make it Lovecraftian, and I honestly think everything about the essence of Lovecraftian lore, fear of the unknown, and total loss of control + sanity when facing creatures beyond one's comprehension are all completely absent from this game and its story. So if you are hoping for something like that, this is unfortunately NOT it.

Certified Lovecraft story, nothing to add
