If you're having trouble running the game full screen: Starships always runs in the resolution of the monitor. Players can select full screen from the options menu or drag the corner to their desired size. On the PC version, they can choose to run the game in Full screen Windowed mode - you can select this in options or simply hit F11.

This thread is for technical issues only. All feedback on game design and mechanics should not be posted here.

Game won't start. It will start, show the 2k/ firaxis page. It will also show the "Granny 3d page". Then it will close. Windows 10

.... literally 74 pages of the SAME ISSUE. please STOP posting the same "it wont start or go past this screen"

you people have buried the fix that EVERYONE uses to fix that exact problem.

now, you have to wade through it and find the fix... a problem you seemed to have made for yourselves....

Also if a fix isn't listed it's not likely that a patch will be released. All support for this game has been suspended for quite a while now.

Although, the common problem seems to be not launching, so if a moderator or developer could come and pin the fix to the chat that would likely help with most people's issues.

I'm running the game in Windows 10 with Windows 7 compatibility mode enabled, but the game constantly crashes after completing missions. I desperately want to unlock the bonuses for Beyond Earth, but if the game crashes it seems to prevent me from ever getting credit for any BE bonus goal.

UPDATE: I'm still having issues, but I figured out there is an iPad version. $3 and it doesn't crash. I've already unlocked most of the BE bonuses.

Ok so I also could not run the game. I verified my install with steam. The game install exactly these files.
assets.bin
Starships.exe
Starships64.exe
steam_api.dll
steam_api64.dll
steam_appid.txt

There is no config file or other folders or other .exe files described by anyone else.

I am running Win 7 x64 Ultimate with an i7 cpu, 64GB of ram, and a titanz card.

Game now opens and runs. Before it only showed the same to logos as all the other people complaining.

Ok that fix didn't work more then once.
I got it working with steam overlay disabled and the following steam launch options:
-novideo , -fullscreen
And I set the 64 bit to run as admin.

At this point I think it barely runs and intermittently at that.

The game makes it through most of the titles and then just shuts down... Win 10 Intel i7 Quad Core. USED to work - hasn't for about a year. Liked this game but, can't play it now.

Did you try any of my above comment Fix?
I take it you are running the 64bit executable?
Did you recently install any large Windows updates like a creators update?
Are you open to the possibility of running this game in emulation?

This game and Linux.

I have a Toshiba Satellite with an I3 processor which dual boots with Widows 7 and Ubuntu 14.04. I first installed this game in Windows 7, but as some of you may know from previous post, I had the issue of that white window poping up and then the game crashes. And so I booted up my laptop in Linux and loaded steam through PlayOnLinux, then I installed this game. And what do ya know, it works! I guess there are more than one way to skin a cat. You may have to configure Wine and mess with the window and screen settings to make it work this way.

Six years later, I have a question: Do you mean you launched the windows version of Steam through PlayOnLinux?!

SO I'm not complaining about the game play just the screen sizing. The bottom buttons are cut off and cant see the bottom buttons on the screen display....I AM NOT a Techie that will go in and alter log files etc....Wouldn't mind getting it all on one screen though....seems a bit quirky.

Windows 10 64-bit.

Game crashes unexpectedly at odd times. Usually either when completing a mission or starting one, but not ALWAYS. No error message. Has anyone else faced this issue before? If so, have you come across a fix?
