Disable / remove monster(s)?
<preface>I haven't played SOMA</preface>

I read reviews that SOMA has quite a few things going for it, story-wise. As such, I'd LOVE to play it. That said, I hate games in which I'm helpless. It's aggravating, and it sucks all enjoyment I could otherwise have out of a game. This is especially true for games in which the setting has (supposedly) so many interesting details to behold – I do NOT want to have to evade some monster while reading scribbles on the walls / listening to audio logs / whatever SOMA has in it. A creepy atmosphere + story is sure to do its thing without the aid of skulking monstrosity.

And critics seem to agree that in this game the monster is more of a distraction.

Thus my question – is there any way to disable / remove the monser(s) in this game? I’d gladly play it if that was possible, and I’ve got a vague feeling I might not be the only one in this…

that why i made mode via scripts... avoid surveys, viruses, scams for taking you rmoney..
you see the code, code loads in game, you see what i does - in this case disables damage function.

old good way to solve things/

I am deeply sure that the purpose of this thread is to provide as many solutions as we all can. I proposed the trainer, you proposed the scripts - it is all ok. Still, to be honest, if being a completely noob I maybe could download a trainer, but your instruction for scripts... it is dark to say the least. I still play with the viruses-malwatre trailer just because I could not understand a ... from the descr) Once again - type SOMA TRAINER +3 in google and there will be a tonn of links, where are you finding these surveys etc?)

I reported him for ban too. Maybe I caused the ban( This is a very imp thread - a tonn of my friends adores the quest part but wants to avoid "da monstars!". It is one of the game's most vulnerable parts, let's keep it serious, guys (and gals of course)!

+ have you read that it works ONLY on non-steam version? play steam version and try using trainer.... steam have defense agains this.
you can use trainer, but not with soma,and with trainer - you dont see what it does really,
my scripts are just original scripts with commented lines, that works inside game, so steam detects nothing changed, and if fg doesnt change scripts, still is compactible... if they changes its just need to disable with same functions as in my scripts.

personally i dont like .exe files.... i had some viruses a lot of time ago (years), from that i dont use trainers, and if, ONLY cheat engine. as in cheat engine you case edits, not someone else/

No, I have not. Could you please provide us with the link where Steam incompatibility is stated? It works on both GOG and Steam upd 2 builds as I see after testing myself. I have completed the game 10 mins ago (it was great btw, GOG version). The "blind AI" command worked 100% of time. My friend with Steam version reports he is ok too.

Once again, I am NOT arguing with you, I am searching for the solution

I really think you should write down the script correction with the max detail, maybe upload a video

//MD AttackMeter_AddInstance(mBaseObj.GetID(), 15, 3, 0.2f);
//MD Player_GiveDamage(0.1, 0.6, eDamageType_Hit, mBaseObj.GetName());

like this? find //MD in soma scripts downloaded and if found where wered doen changes...
as in files i posted are changes done.... and for soma only with disabled lines...

// - disables use of line in realtime compiler or what game uses. MD is just for mark of change.

in amnesia or penumbra its different, there are different settings so i setted up them to 0.00 not like before 2.0 or other dmg values.

so its straigth... downloand, backup original folder, replace files with files i provided. like all mods done in skyrim... replace core/

like amesia>

<Var Name="NormalDamageSize" Value="0 0.0 0.00" />

or penumbra>

AttackDamage = "000"
AttackDamageSize = "0.0 0.0 0.0f"

enough samples? its not hard to do these edits... just have adequate editor (not notepad, but for example notepad++) and edit them. hpl engine allows changes.

I have NOT tested the scripts, as I don't own the game. But I did download them to take a look. They seem perfectly safe. Backup original script files / folder and copy the new files over.

The downside is that this will probably not solve the issue of the monsters getting in the way. This "merely" makes the game easier - i.e. you cannot die. But if one wants a hassle-free experience, I suspect this isn't it. I assume monsters are aggressive and actively chase players down.

A preferable way (would be awesome if it was possible via the scripts) would be to have monsters simply ignore the player.

it wasnt my target to make monsters blind... just avoid frustration of repeating same areas again and again ... as if you doesnt want click computer and behind you have monster, you have still get lost of them. but if you ignore them, you still get exploration wanted.

fg done good game still, i only hated dying and repeating.

Hey, you can do that the same way as in Amnesia i.e via removing the respective monster game folders. I have found a couple of them, you can safely remove the following folders:

SOMA\entities\character\robot\construct_upsilon_infected
SOMA\entities\character\flesher
SOMA\entities\character\mindcoral
SOMA\entities\character\deepsea_diver\deepsea_diver_monster
SOMA\entities\character\robot\leviathan

The game remains playable but the monsters just don't spawn anywhere.

Caveat: in Theta Tunnels after you've fallen in the elevator shaft, you must be caught by mutated Terry Akers if you don't want to get stuck in the game, therefore you have to temporarily restore the mindcoral or flesher folder (sry, I don't recollect where his model resides).
