He's really not that bad when you figure out his mechanics.
Tried to outrun him a couple of times, since when I actually try to HIDE, he finds me every time..and it's not like he just disappears, like the monsters in amnesia.
So it's basically trial and error, if you find the right path, you're lucky, if not you're f***ed

In wich Room is the Ladder?!
When you open the door just crouch in the broken corridor beside the hatch. He'll walk past then you crawl past and continue on your way. There's only one room you can visit optionally but it's literally one line of text and then you open the second hatch and run forward.
1: Opened the door for the first time, hung around. He saw me, I backed away while staring at him until I got around a corner, then looked directly into the wall. Died -- but this one was my fault, not a strategy failing me.
2: Opened the door the second time, hid before he saw me. I did this for all subsequent attempts other than attempt 3. Let him go around the circle a couple times while hiding under the desk. I sprinted out when I thought he was in a good position to be avoided (just going into the room with the mussed up floor). Ran directly into him, turned around and tried to lose him and get closer to the door by using the escape strategy in post #13. Died when he came up behind me.
3: Tried the lead-him-on-a-wild-goose-chase strategy in the first reply. It seemed to work really well, too, until I opened the second big door and crouchwalked to a small dead end to wait out the lock sequence. About halfway through it, he came up and stood just around the corner from me. When it ended, I realized he was still there (blocking my only exit) and tried to escape through the door situated behind me. Got me from behind just as I went through the door.
4: Tried throwing things to distract him. Either something is wrong on my system or he (like EVERY OTHER ENEMY in this game so far) ignores any and all decoys. Sprinting seems to be an especially bad idea at any time, as I almost always immediately die when I sprint away from him: so it was this time.
5: Tried the strategy in post #10. He found me immediately as he exited his door. I crouchwalked backwards while facing him in a wide circle to my objective, only to realize that if I turned away to hit the door switch I'd be jellyman food and I had once again gotten myself trapped in a dead end with the bastard. Didn't end up mattering, after a tense ~15s standoff he just ran at me and ate me anyway. WIth me facing him, crouched, unmoving, at about 10 paces. What a jerk.
So I'm out of ideas. I need either a really strict strategy that is utterly foolproof or a really flexible strategy that can handle every possible thing I mess up if I apply it properly. Anyone have anything?
Same. I didn't have an issue with it. If it spotted me, I ran around until I could hear that he wasn't near or after me. I hit the switch that takes a while, circled around like three times, and I was done with it.
