GOG or STEAM
I'm trying to decided if I should get this on steam or GOG. Has Frictional games came out and said which client they were prefer people to buy it on, like CD Projekt RED did for the witcher 3. I just wanna support the delevoper the best way possible and I'm not sure if they make more off one system then the other.

On steam it will be easier to install custom stories if that's your thing, due to steam workshop integration

If the game is steamworks it won't matter where you buy it because it'll link to steam anyway

considering the witcher makers and gog.com are owned by the same parent company... it's no surprise they had a preference. :-)

OP, if I may make a suggestion: if you decide to go the Steam route, purchase it from the Humble Bundle store. You'll get a redeemable Steam key, and a small portion of the purchase will go towards a charity of your choosing.

Bought it on GOG, I like to own my games and put the installer on an external drive.

I just got it off GOG. Over twice as cheap for me.

Like Amnesia we can assume that we can download mods online, steam workshop is there just for convenience.

tbh I try to intentionally buy on GOG... Not a Steam hater, I like it, but since nearly my entire library is on Steam, when I do remember I will check GoG and see if it is the way to go.

That said, Steam was actually quite a bit cheaper for this game than GoG.

As a side note this is one of the few games I considered doing a pre-purchase. Amnesia The Dark Descent is one of my all time favorite games and I basically paid nothing for that - so I thought this would be an opportunity to support a developer I like!

Steam is more knew the decision can take, DRM-FREE, it is the worst excuse for pirating games, if you support the developer purchase on Steam

That's funny.. GOG saved me 2 euros on this game.

They didn't state a preference, but thery did say that they make pretty much the same amount per copies sold on both sites. The question and quote in question from Facebook:

"Do you get a higher share of the profits from Gog or Steam?

Frictional Games: Basically the same.

I think it comes down to the region you're in (though I must admit I'm surprised with a game like this).

I'm in NZ, with the 10% pre order discount on Steam it was $32.40 NZD.
GoG is telling me after 10% discount it's $38.69 AUD (they bucket NZ in with Australia sadly), a straight conversion check on google brings that to $43.66 NZD, though it would probably be a bit more for me in reality as I would also have to pay a currency conversion fee.
