What was the INTRO all about?
Beat the game, still have no idea what Simon meant by "Why is there always not enough time" in the intro. I also don't get the time and place, since he was mentioning his brain trauma, moments before the crash that caused it actually happened. Or was it just dream gibberish that meshed his memroies together?

I think it was a post-traumatic dream, re-living the drama of the accident but including related details that had come to light afterwards. So yeah, dream gibberish meshing the memories together.

I was worried that it was going to be part of a IT WAS ALL A HORRIBLE DREAM reveal at the end, but it turns out it was a pretty straightforward "guy has a crash, girlfriend dies, then he has nightmares about the event" affair.

Spoilers ahead obviously.

The begining of the game is the only time you play as human Simon. You go get your brain scanned and that is later then loaded up (as it was used as one of the basis for creating the AI the world takes place in) into a robot/virtual Simon. Which is when he wakes up and you are in the underwater facility.

Simon (the real one) is dying and as a result has started to appreciate the time he does have, something he hadn't done before, but that made him realize/focus on how little time he had left, hence "Why is there always not enough time", which is a mottif that presents itself throughout and at the end it happens that there is just enough time, I doubt that was on accident.

Lol thanks for clearing that up. Pointless dead girlfriend is pointless though

I think it was all a dying dream after all
That feeling of "all is lost" translated into apocalypse theme, "want girlfriend back" became motherly voice from a tool, and cruel world (or unjust God image) became WAU

BTW, note how pilot seat is repeated through the game.

Ashley was not his girlfriend, only his friend. The answer of dream Ashley makes that clear.

Also when preparing new instalations equipment is bought in bulk, or at least usually from the same brand. Seeing identical pilot seeats in Pathos is about as relevant as seeing multiple identical PC screens in an office.

Also there is a great deal of science realated stuff in this game, mainly numeric data related with marine architecture, turbines and propusion (these are the fields I can verify with my studies) which is correct in real life, which Simon should not known, being a young bookstore manager.

Some people get deeply traumatized of such events, especially when being part of an accident.

Think about his situation. He is probably blaming himself of her death. It has not been nowhere near enough time to "get over it."

So yeah, when someone believes they killed someone and have injury that gets them killed in less than a year if no medical advancement happen soon due whatever happened during an accident. I think that guy is coping surprisingly well.

He sees that accident in his dreams and tries to change the outcome over and over again.
