How to enable Debug menu for SOMA (lots of fun features)
Hello everyone; I was playing with SOMA's level editor and map viewer the other day, and I started tinkering with the config files (in SOMA/config -- or User/Documents/My Games/SOMA/main)
I don't know if anyone posted this before, and I really don't have the time to look. If anyone posted it before sorry.
Anywho; I noticed some debug settings -- things like display fps; show debug messages etc.
Debug mode allows you once in game to press F1 and open up a long menu on the right side of the screen with many nifty features and for those who like to cheat a little bit, it also has a god mode option. :)

To enable debug mode; find your user settings file; Generally located in:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\My Games\Soma\Main
You should see some folders and some cfg files; look for the file like this:
YOUR_STEAM_OR_USERNAME_110000146748B0B_user_settings.cfg
Open that file and search for: DebugMode="false"
change that to DebugMode="true"
Save and start your game. All done.
Once in game, press F1 for a nifty debug menu.

Devs: PLEASE DO NOT PATCH THIS OUT. It's very fun and added many more hours of game play to my experience. I like to tinker with games, see how they work, what models are seperate, poly count etc. I know there are others like me, so please leave it in. :)

Hello! I managed to make that change however upon playing F1 does nothing. I do see health settings and visability settings along with Debug Mode in the bottom left however...I cannot bring up the menu however! :(

Debug mode and script debug wont be patched out, they are essential for effective modding and creation of custom content.

You probably mistook enabling script debug for enabling the debug menu.

make sure it's specifically "DebugMode" found under <Main that is set to true.

There is also mutliple of these user settings files, 1 for default,1 for steam user, 1 for if playing using the dev batch, and also unique ones for everysingle mod you have installed. confused I know but that's how it is.

It isn't patched out.

You need to add it to the main section.

<Main FirstGameStart="false" DebugMode="true" GenerateScriptAPI="false" StartLanguage="english.lang" ScreenShotExt="jpg" ForceCacheLoadingAndSkipSaving="true" AutogenerateLangFiles="false" SaveConfig="true" ShowMenu="true" UpdateLogActive="true" ContinueMap="main_menu.hpm" ContinuePos="" />

I don't understand this. I have Soma on steam as well, and windows, but I can't find the user settings file under the name given above, and it isn't where the person said it would be (so I don't even know if it's the right file but it has "user settings" in the name) and I don't know what the "main" section is. The only place where I could find "Main DebugMode="true" is the "default_user_settings_dev" file (there is one without the dev that doesn't). But I have no idea what to do with this, and I can't find any other explanations online.
Did I mention I'm a noob when it comes to computers? I just wanted to take some screenshots :(
