[THE ARK] Heaven or Boring???
Have you ever considered what living inside the arc wood be like?

I can imagine it'd be fun to live young for a few hundred years, but won't it get old after awhile? We're talking about that ark lasting for THOUSANDS of years.

There are like ~60 people on board from what i understand. When we enter the ark we see that they have an entire city in the view behind Cathy. It is mentioned sumwear in the game that they can only create very simplistic AI people. So that city is probably either completely empty or there are a bunch of GTA type NPC's roaming around. And with only 60 people, there are no new video games, tv shows, or any type of entertainment being released.

With this in mind, How do you imagine your life inside the arc? What would your average day look like? Could you keep yourself entertained for thousands of years?? Keep in mind, no sleep requirements and no having to go to work everyday means you have all 24 hours to yourself every day.

I'll post my answer in the comments below.

Honestly the deeper i think about it, the lamer the arc seems.

Sure it'd be so much fun at first. I would have 100 supermodel A.I. wives living with me in an enormous mansion. I would cruise 100mph in my Bugatti thru the AI filled streets, recklessly killing anyone in my path like i do in GTA. I would rob banks, do heists, like in GTA. IS THE ARC JUST GTA 5 ????? What else is there to do?

I think as short as ~200 years i'd probably get bored of it. Without a constant source of new experiences, i'd just get bored.

So this is the old Happy Pig vs Sad Philosopher debate played out here between the story's protagonists. First recorded from Socrates, then later taken up again by John Stuart Mill.
The pig needs only desire-satisfaction. The philosopher strives for Reality.

Catherine champions the pig, while Simon champions the philosopher.

Oooh, this is actually super interesting!!! I’ll need to look into it more. :k8happy:

I would definitely get bored—I mean, I have ADHD lol

No, but to be serious, there isn’t *that* much to do… I would probably want to die after a little while.

I think you could say the same about real life in a way.
If you could never die, would you get bored?
I don't think I would. You could always invent new things.

What would stay the same is yourself.

In real life there is more to experience and its more dynamic because new people are constantly replacing the old. There is also the surprise of what might come in the future that you cant know about or predict.

The ark is just static. Nothing really changes. There are no surprises. What you have is what you have.

idk about Simon championing reality. Seemed like he just wanted to get on the ark and launch it into space as much as Catherine, if not more.

Yeah he's not Socrates, but he's always hand-wringing about the fate of his copies left behind. Which is a 'reality' external to merely achieving his own wants. Catherine seems to have no compunctions about all that.

I'd say it's Simon rather than Catherine who will first feel imprisoned within the ARK. Let's have the sequel and find out!

Since there is/was one Person nearly alive, up to your decision, maybe trying to revert the Effects of the WAU to her would be a Mission to do. Actively pushing Science to try keeping at least one alive rather than to flee in a Satelite with beeing unable to do anything but dream on.

Am i going insane or is everyone else here insane?

I see two people here who seem to posting random unrelated nonsense.

Thats a good sequel idea. My idea wood be to have maybe the WAU somehow get on the ark or something and maybe the sequel takes place in the ark simulation but the player doesnt realize it until the end.

But overall i dont think a sequel is a good idea. This story is such a masterpiece and it got wrapped up no nicely at the end. I personally woulnt want a sequel

"Where" is better in this context (well, at least where I'm from).

I'm not sure if this is really explained in the game.
It could very well be that the people of the ARK can make changes to the ARK itself.
Adding/Removing things.
