A folder will open up (SOMA's root folder). Find ModelViewer.exe.
If it's not there. Verify game files through SOMA in Steam > Properties > Installed Files > Verify, and try again.
Either way, thank you!!
I opened up the viewer, but only the armature is showing? I tried loading both .dae & .ent versions of the model, but they yield the same results. Any ideas? Sorry lol
Can you list here the name of the model you're trying to open?
Also try using the ModelEditor.exe > load the model using file > open, click on the gear icon at the bottom for animations.
I’ve tried opening “survivor_infected.ent”, “hands_diving.ent”, “hands_diving.dae”, “puppet_1.dae”, and “puppet_1.ent” off the top of my head.
I have been using the model viewer as the model editor keeps crashing... I’ve tried redownloading the files multiple times, too.
Maybe it’s because I’m using Parallels on Mac?? But even still, that shouldn’t cause issues like this, it can run 32-bit programs just fine.
That's very odd. "survivor_infected.ent" works just fine for me in the ModelViewer.exe.
It could very well be the Mac that's causing it.
Try a different compatibility mode if it's available on Mac. Usually Windows has something like that, that can be done on programs. (If you can open the properties panel when right clicking on an application and change compatibility there). Worth a look.
Unfortunately this is really my only idea for this. It could just be that these programs are designed more for Windows.
Theoretically speaking, if you really wanted to go through all the effort, it could be possible to make install a virtual machine using Oracle VM VirtualBox, and install Windows on it specifically for SOMA. But it is a lot of effort.
I’ll try out the compatability options, and see how that works. Otherwise, I’ll look into the other virtual machines you mentioned. (I’ve been having the same questions about if it’s because I’m on mac, sadly.)
Regardless, thank you so much! I really appreciate it. :)
