2. Oversight.
3. It isn't mentioned anywhere, but someone people claim it's Munshi because they hear the Construct yell out "Simon". Though, I very much doubt so.
4. Carl was killed by a Construct mockingbird, and the mockingbird can be found in a nearby room where you can actually hear it's last moments attacking Amy and Carl. You can see it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzQWIiNi1YU .
As for the noticing part, that's impossible for us to know, as for controlling the Constructs, there is a pilot seat where Simon woke up which was most likely used for it as there is a room full of Constructs right outside it.
5. The blackbox is injected via something called an autoinjector, that's just about all we know, but I would assume the patient would be under anesthesia as it seems like a pretty hefty implant.
6. It is very likely it's because that line was made at a really early version of SOMA, where they didn't finalize Ross' character, and thus it didn't quite sound like Ross.
7. Most likely Strasky's mocking bird thinking it's in the ARK. https://www.reddit.com/r/soma/comments/7v6dzi/calling_theta_from_upsilon/
8. It's impossible to know and is up to speculation. My best guess is some problem with the generators of the site or whatnot exploding and causing mayhem, but again it's impossible to know.
9. Could be that the suction was so powerful that it pulled in moss from outside and after just about 2 hours or so of Simon being unconscious it settled down on the bottom. It could have not been more than 2 days as the whole game takes place in the course of two days iirc.
10. It must've gotten trapped by some falling heavy rocks and did not have the capability to float powerful enough to escape.
11. It's called "monolith_plateau_1". The red glow comes from the lights emitting from it. My best guess is that it's lights meant to signify the shuttle station's location so no one gets confused.
12. She tried to get the power back up working normally for the shuttle station as the lights were flickering, but the power box exploded on her. As she was dying, some structure gel dripped on her and saved her life by artificial lungs powered by electricity.
13. A lot of the equipment used in Pathos-II was created by a Japanese company named Haimatsu Technologies. https://soma.fandom.com/wiki/Haimatsu_Technologies
14. https://youtu.be/jiHIIAClkGs
15. There are multiple fleshers, there was even a flesher in Lambda, but we don't know what he was doing in the shuttle station.
16. The Catherine we know of was created as a test run for the ARK project and has been most likely activated after Simon powered up Upsilon. Chances are that she is probably not a WAU product but rather made by a human as her existence in a mockingbird makes sense for ARK testing, but I wouldn't know. https://soma.fandom.com/wiki/Catherine_Chun
17. Impossible to know but probably not.
18. Javid Goya, not a very relevant character but still interesting. https://soma.fandom.com/wiki/Javid_Goya
19. It's impossible for us to know what was actually in there, but if you actually take a look using debug commands or through the level editor, it's completely empty.
20. Maggie Komorebi, Shawn Evans and someone else were a group of three sent to Delta to come pick up Terry Akers as he wanted to leave Delta. Akers killed them by injecting them with structure gel (Except Maggie which avoided it yet still died) and fleeing in the zeppelin. https://soma.fandom.com/wiki/Delta https://soma.fandom.com/wiki/Maggie_Komorebi
21. The WAU. Terry was heavily influenced by the WAU if it wasn't obvious. The WAU probably mitigated any pain that Terry was suffering, as well as allowing him excellent hearing to be able to know what is actually happening.
22. The person you hear in zeppelin 216 isn't Alan but rather a brain scan of Alan, panicing thinking it's drowning. Everything is explained here: https://soma.fandom.com/wiki/Alan_Waldeck
23. Just about almost all of them are as a result of the WAU trying to shove scans into robots to keep humanity alive.
24. It's not really known but there are some discussions such as this which go into it and speculate. https://www.reddit.com/r/soma/comments/l3b6dd/whos_inside_the_dunbat/
25. A scrapped enemy from SOMA. https://soma.fandom.com/wiki/Patchwork_Man
26. There is no "Brain transfer" or "Coin toss", it's a copy paste or copy paste delete. Simon2 was still very much alive. Catherine, realizing that Simon3 would go crazy over Simon2's consciousness as Simon in general has stayed ignorant about how brain scans work, put Simon2 to sleep mode.
27. I don't know this one.
28. It's unknown as much as I know.
29. She managed to find a way to turn off her blackbox, though how she did it is unknown.
30. That was the main concern, that's why Catherine was killed. She wanted to launch the ARK even if it means shooting it through possible debris. It was all a gamble essentially, no one knew the condition of the top of the space gun.
31. The logic behind it is that it has enough time to get enough velocity to shoot out into the atmosphere. The ARK and Pathos-II are extremely secretive, even the location is not fully known. The cannon needed to be both secretive and long enough to allow for enough velocity.
32. I've never seen this but it is possible it was a mockingbird or some piece of information we are not told of her being down there at some point.
33. Pathos-II was created in the 2060s, unknown exactly when. Simon gets woken up on 2104/05/09 and he gets to Phi on 2104/05/11 at 3:30 am.
I hope this helped clear some things up
The date of the visit is 2014-05-11, ie the present day, and Simon-3 inhabits Raleigh's body.
When you enter you don't sign in because you're an untrained civilian with no respect for protocol, so Phi station notes it automatically as an 'unverified visit' by Raleigh Herber.
Try building a 4km-tall building on the surface. The Burj Khalifa is only 800m tall and it doesn't moonlight as a satellite gun. Putting the gun underwater isn't a perfect fix, but it has a logic to it.
More importantly it functions as an excellent narrative device for the philosophical story SOMA wants to tell about transhumanism at the end of the world.
The question is not "24. which person is in the DUNBAT?"
The question is "1. is the person in the DUNBAT still a person?"
but i have more question or maybe just my cents
A. didnt the backup person should be already inside the VR? so, should there be 2 catherine? or did her backup is deleted since those people kill her in the end?
B. why do you even need to launch it? is it because there's no "power" for juiced up the VR (which probably is) for thousands of years? i probably answer myself here lol
C. i think it's also stupid just send your "last humanity" into outer space without anything to peek or at least manipulate the outside world. did they really think just a box with solar panel could be alive in thousands of years? what about maintenance? or the though of building human civilization again? without it, it's just a flying coffin
D. and the most important thing, do people mind truly able to live inside such a small VR world? some log show it's just 5km square or so and you will live in thousands of years inside (supposedly). i really doubt human brain can "live" like that... it's just too small and boring to be "alive" inside such small world. maybe they could make a new world, but what about the data size? it's already cramped with little free space. my guess is, it's either their brain get resets every xxx years or getting crazy, because i really doubt human brain is made for such a long time of period. human brain can easily get bored
20) The bodies in the Delta are the Salvage crew: Maggie Komorebi, Shawn Evans, Heather Wolchezk, and Joaquin Defrein. There is a fifth body, but I have not been able to determine who it is.
22) Zeppelin 216 is Alan Waldeck's mockbird. Since the entire Zeppelin is actually Alan, he thinks he's going to drown when he's underwater, right over an abyss.
25) The man with the robotic inside could be Jacob Halperin or Olavi Sorvari. (I researched the origins of all the dead bodies in the game.)
Also, on the top floor of the Omicron, Alan Waldeck is lying on the floor with his head buried in the dashboard, and I think RobotHead is Andrea Suther.
28) Because DUNBAT was already in quarantine at that time. What can be read from the PC in Strohmeier's office.
