Definitely get this game, it's so great, it's personally my favorite game. Just take your time, explore everything, don't rush it. It's a story that needs and deserves to be discovered.
As long as you study Steam's store page and I also like to check the developers' game pages at their direct websites before buying, you'll be able to answer all your important questions about any game before buying it.
Like the fact that SOMA is a single player title ~ the only way to go for the best horror titles imho. You can always talk with other people whenever you want on yr phone or yr Facebook or Steam Messenger or at home with yr sibs + parents [mebbe you'll need to shout] and even when playing SOMA.
Like the fact that SOMA's a classic in the "Survival Horror Genre" whose purpose is generally speaking to shock us to the very core of our souls or at least surprise us with the plot's evil + warped themes + intentions.
Like the fact that the Steam SOMA Forum [this very community ... doh ...] agrees the game "works best" in solo play b/c coop or MMORPG would destroy its key fright management tactic of "Player Isolation" ~ a common tactic in most all great horror art. https://steamcommunity.com/app/282140/discussions/0/517142253880092963/

But yep it's true [again] it's a solo game so most all the others you'll encounter there won't choose to respond to your chat efforts no matter how dazzling a conversationalist you maybe though most adults agree that silence can be a real game benefit in a game like this one and also after a day of constant noise at work
If you really require constant noise while gaming, you can do what many gamers do & listen to yr favorite rock bands streaming or on CD / DVD at Volume 10 which will silence any game's soundtrack; I don't do that in horror games + don't recommend it to others cos many important horror game clues are typically expressed at very low volumes and from unexpected background directions in surround sound.
It's my sense that this game may not be the perfect game for you #freelancer909 even @ its outrageous current price of five bucks and you may prolly prefer going to Facebook or wherever for your social networking passions or y'know there are some really kewl MMORPG's that let you participate in screaming lotsa teenage trash @ yer MMORPG pals but even those can be pretty scary in their own ways ~ you couldn't catch me playin' Neverwinter or Final Fantasy for all the love in Las Vegas or all the tea in China for that matter. But hey that's me. Happy Gaming, you social butterfly you!
