SOMA
TRACER FLUID
Apart from running so badly, the game decides to randomly hide a bottle of tracer fluid. I can't find it anywhere, even after checking on youtube.
Also, why have this pathetic game mechanic where you have to move the mouse around to open doors and drawers etc. It's a really clumsy system.
If I want to mess around with drawers and finding sh*t, I'll go in my own kitchen and get busy.
I came to this game for a bit of fun, not fiddling around with clumsy control mechanics and searching for silly little items.

Have fun
ok, I generally vehemently dislike SOMA but

What the fuck? Have you ever played something by Frictional before? This is standard in every single one of their games and works fine, it's much more immersive and organic than "press E to open door".

I'd rather press E. Fumbling about opening the door in my face, not my idea of fun.
Picking up things in a comical Octodad/Surgeon Sumulator type way is funny, but not suitable for a game like this.

the interaction is the entire point of these games, and was a part of Frictional even before they finished Penumbra's Tech Demo.

Being able to turn valves, pull levers, and open and close drawers allows for the player to be much more connected with the world and puzzles that they have to accomplish, none of these games would be the same without it. And besides, the difficulty they add is intentional (much like the clunky combat of Penumbra: Overture).

I can't imagine how less stressful something like the final area in Amnesia: Justine would be if I could just flip the levers instead of having to pull them myself.

Not for me.
I'm fine just pressing a button to pull levers and open doors.
Saves the ridiculous spasmodic Octodad style fumbling and hitting yourself in the face with doors.
You wan't realism? Why not go to the bathroom every few hours in the game, complete with Surgeon similutor style butt wiping?
Nah.. Some thing just dont work, and are not necessary - and this is one of em imo.

it's never been an issue for me, the way I open and close things in these games are probably faster than if it were manual imo, and that's the beauty of the system, the player is allowed to do things at their own pace.
Lol i had trouble finding the tracer fluid too but its in there. mine was high in the kitchen cabinet. The one place i didnt notice for the longest time.

The fluid for me was in the desk drawer. The interaction scripts make sense to me. Standing in front of a drawer? Pull the mouse towards you. Standing to the side of it? Swing the mouse sideways. At a door? Swipe left or right to open. The FPS issue for me was VSync not being calibrated right. It was set to 75 FPS for some reason. Setting it to 60 fixed it. I plowed through the entire intro with the stuttering thinking it was an artistic choice.

Honestly the game is a bit of a chore at the beginning but man ohh man just stick through it, they are actually building atmosphere and gameplay mechanics. Just hang in there. It gets bomb AF once you get past delta.

Naw, don't encourage him. He does not deserve to play a masterpiece like SOMA. He is looking for a bit of "fun", not a soul moving experience.

Even 'soul moving experiences' can have rubbish bits in them.
I don't care how good the game gets later, IMO the control mechanism is crappy and the tracer fluid hunt is just annoying. It also runs like sh*t.

Other then a few minor fps drops this game runs great on my rig as for controls I didn't have any issues. Played it through twice and will be playing again a third time. This is one of my all time favorites.

this game does have some pretty spotty performance though, my framerate can go from a consistent 60 to like 10 for up to a minute in some scenes for absolutely no reason.
