Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel

Jotunheim update : Feedback
I did a couple of runs on the new Jotunheim map and here are my thoughts on it.

PROS:
- Good overall visuals : the ground textures, models and overall aesthetics are high quality.
- New Freya god powers are visually interesting and their evolution, as well as their base version, are strong and sufficiently different from other god powers.
- Small QOL changes that slightly improve the gaming experience.

CONS:
- I do not enjoy the Storm Jotunn battle having mandatory dodging sections. It ends up just being a waste of time. There is even a cutscene (that can be skipped manually) before each dodging section and, for some reason, the Jotunn is immune to damage during this phase.
- Performance is still incredibly bad at this stage in development. Even by tweaking the different graphic settings, there are still massive framerate drops.

Yeah, too many pauses and idling for nothing.

Also, the storming event on hard is overtuned with all those huge area damage sections and rotating beams.
Sorry for piggybanking on this, but it saves me from creating another stupid thread. I gotta vent. Did they even playtest this ♥♥♥♥? Good things first, the new enemies and missions are nice. A reward for trophies is good, albeit a bit useless. Skadis passives are good, active ones not so much. Expect for the invincibly phases, the aesthetic of the new boss is cool, although you gotta ask what a two-headed human spiderling is doing in a frost realm. Now for the IMO overweighing bad parts. Performance has taking another huge hit, and should be prioritized. I sometimes got stuck on the floor and FPS sank. Skill selection re-rolls graphically and skills get replaced. Once Local Ragnarök stopped working. Runners spawning on different platforms is stupid and cause unnecessary time pressure. Erik's Suncompass doesn't unlock. Collect 666 Mushrooms? A stupid achievement for a stupid mission, that is not tracked retrospectively. Senseless grind to expand gametime. Finish 5 games with Jormungandr, Local Ragnarök and Fimbulwinter? Cool in theory, reality: Fimbulwinter is available on level 15, so until that i finish my build. When i did that Skadi didn't show up. Neither did Thor, but i didn't pick him either. It's good that gods are weighted to fit your build, but come on. 15 re-rolls and only the same gods appearing, with repetition? That's just bad design. (Edit: Apparently you can only have 3 gods) And to drive the point home, sometimes re-rolling caused a god to be selected.

I think that dodging section is a way to regain HP when you're critically low.
PROS:
I like that the maps get harder, more meta progression
I thought the boss was cute with his wheelchair flyby

Suggestion they should make a modifier and see if its reasonable to have no attack indicator.

If I may add a little:

- they changed how rerolls work. I quite like it, but it's now a bit harder to build because of the additional god. Another Blasphemy would be nice
- Skadi feels OP. Especially with Odin. Frostbite, Frostamour, huge cooldown buffs, Ragnaröck and you practically don't die anymore. That's exaggerated, but I am having more and more of an easier time

If they insist on the dodge section of the boss fight, at least make him take damage.

Not a git gud thing or w/e, but the mushroom mission? Have you played Halls of Torment? Collecting 666 mushrooms is easy compared to some of the shenanigans you need to do in that game.
These games have to be grindy, it's how they expand their replaybility. Vampire Survivors, Halls of Torment, Nordic Ashes, Deep Rock Galactic etc, the all have missions that span multiple playthroughs. Maybe they're just not for you.
Sure, mushrooms might be suboptimal in terms of efficiency, but it's nowhere near the most ridiculous mission I've seen in one of these games.
This game is far from perfect, but I feel these complaints are unnecessarily harsh.

My feedback on the new patch!

The new map is great, the new objectives are interesting but the objective balance is still awful. Why would anyone in their right mind take nithstangs over runners? Sure some classes ♥♥♥♥ all over nithstangs but for others they can be a death sentence. In case your wondering late game seeress just stands outside and laughs. Revenant probably crushes them too as long as all his arrows hit still. Even then running to each runner and instakilling them is so easy. Then there is the whole go do 5 things or 3 things 99% your going to go take 3 things cause it just way faster to travel to three spots on the map. Once gold doesn't matter you don't care about the rewards the harder missions should reward a chest or elite chest or something to make it worth it. Maybe I play too much but after a point you have enough gold to get everything you want for your preferred class and gods and you get still reset if you want to switch it around.

Seeress has secured best class for sure; Berserker demoted to 2nd. Flame sister and Revenant are still bottom of the barrel. Only thing that is holding flame sister up is how insanely overtuned flaming ray is otherwise she would be worse than revenant. Both struggle with being very squishy so you either solve that or just try to get as much damage as possible but then seeress just laughs and does both easily.

Seeress early game is trash but guess what all you got do is survive a bit thanks to her insane exp gain. Now with skadi cc seeress is easy and definitely has the strongest end game of any of the classes and it is not even close. Being invulnerable x5 while everything freezes and explodes around you is great fun cannot wait til endless mode.
Maybe it was harsh, but i enjoy survivors-like very much, and have 100% NA, HoT, and played others, including DRG:S. My complaint was that it could be unlocked retroactively, otherwise it's about 30 additional runs for that. A punishment for early adopting.
Map 3 looks cool, but the boss and enemies are a let down at the moment after map 2. Not difficult. Honestly they feel easier. But they just seem tedious and slow. But hey, this is the point of EA.

Skadi passives are cool. Actives have obvious use as support skills, so seem more situational. Agree that they look good though.
