M2 boreas even though I never use it
M3 - for carriers people would probably say falcon hauler because of shields + cargo space for energy bolt chaingun ammo and missiles. For a personal m3 nova raider works.
m4 - solano for carriers because they are almost like an m3 but cheaper and have an uncanny survival rate
m5 - discoverer raider has m class cargo hold so can use jump drives and transport passengers with a top speed of 439 m/s kestrel can also do the same at 605 m/s
m6 - skiron
m7 - panther or tiger
m7m - aquilo for combat , cobra for boarding
m8 - viper just for speed , claymore can use phantom missiles that take up 1 unit of cargo space
Theres lots of other ships you can get latter in the game . Your probably better off asking what are the worst ships since most ships can be made to work in the game if you adapt to their weaknesses.
For the first corvette, i always get the split dragon: is cheap, fastest corvette (before you´re able to buy a Springblossom) and equip it with 8 Plasma burst generators and you have your first capital ship killer.
For the M7, i switched from the Paranid Deimos for the Split Panther: even with 2 giga less shields, the speed and fighther bay is more pratical for missions, plus the number of FAAs make it a great M7 fighter killer.
In the carrier class, i abandoned the Split Raptor in favor of the Tokio, because the Raptor was too Nerfed since Reunion (c´mon, 4 giga? Get out!).
My favorite destroyer will always be the OTAS Boreas, the ship is really the best heavy hitter.
For Ship capturing, the OTAS Skiron is a nice shield drain/marine killer, while the Split Cobra is the best boarding pod launcher, excelent for pirate corvettes and pirate military transports.
When it comes to capital ship capturing, i use the Cerberus for the shield drain/marine kill (if is a ship from a mission) or the Springblossom for shield drain, if is a outside-mission prey.
Springblossom is particularly more efficient in a variety of situations, since it´s agile enough to run away for shield regen if it´s too beaten up, and eight frontal MMLs plus the side energy flak make it the best ship in the entire game.
I like to have my Medusa-Fleet with me :)
When it comes to M2s you can't go past the pocket destroyer Boreas, though I admit that made life a little too easy (Smallest and fastest M2 with a broadside of 16 PPC and 4 IBL!?). The Boron Ray was odd, the turret positioning put the left and right batteries up towards the nose which meant you could track a target across your nose without breaking fire. Throw in a mix of ICs/PPCs and half decent pilot and you've got an M2 which could skillfully take out 3 Osakas simultaneously. The Boreas could do 6.
As for M6s, I can't go past the Heavy Centaur. Honestly, just look at the sexy beast.
M1s seemed relatively pointless to me when you've got the Panther. The Tokyo was probably the strongest carrier in the game, but obtaining any volume of Terran weapons was nigh impossible.
The Terran M3s had excellent stats, however EMPCs were horribly boring to shoot and impossible to obtain. The Chimera though, that was a beast - 187ms, 75MJ shielding and 8750MJ laser generator! It even had a front and rear PBE mounting turrets for missile defence making it the perfect fleet fighter. The venti looked gorgeous with a full compliment of weapons, however the generator was a lemon so I filled it with 10 EBCs, and never let go of the fire button (it sounded fantastic).
M4s I never bothered with, M5s weren't a big issue, all the did was map sectors and scan roids'.
TS's were a big deal though, the three I used most were the Mistral, Mistral SF and Caiman SF. The mistral looked pretty cool and was wonderfully fast, the Mistral SF had the best cargo/speed ratio and the Caiman SF came in at a close second. None of the other ships were really with considering to me.
