Can i be allys with all factions?

i keep ending up being enemys with factions ive done no harm to, and once that happens, i cant enter their zones to do quests or kill pirates. is there any way around this? or will there always be some faction that wont like me? (ignoring always hostile factions)

Although it is pretty difficult it certainly is possible to have almost everyone as a friend as long as you know how to treat them. The Argon and Boron are fairly tolerant of outsiders in their space as long as they don't cause trouble, and the Teladi will happily welcome you as long as you bring them profitsss. The Paranid are very paranoid (who would've thought?) of unholy creatures tainting their sectors and so they may start a war out of nowhere. The Split are warriors at heart and will quickly dispatch of anyone that defies them. The Goners will brainw... eh... show you the light. And the Terrans... well, the Terrans hate everyone and everyone hates them, they're just too lazy to say it.

Now, the best way to improve your reputation with anyone is by doing missions for members of a given race. But you must keep in mind that failing missions will actually make your reputation drop (no one likes it when you waste their time) and if it drops too low a race may consider you a mischievous nuisance and start hunting you down.

Speaking of being mischievous... there are the Pirates and Yaki, whose missions generally require you to get rid of members of the main races, and as you can guess that makes those races a bit unhappy when they see you gunning down their citizens. So, when trying to befriend everyone you have to balance things. Just make sure to plan ahead before you take any mission and think "will this negatively impact my reputation with another race?"

Try to look for stray Xenon or Kha'ak in the border sectors of the race that is hostile to you, which have less patrols hunting you, and kill the enemies. They will be thankful to you for getting rid of the threat which in turn raises your reputation.

Some Pirates will always be hostile to you even if you have a good reputation with the faction itself, but they generally don't bother attacking you as they have more important things to do.

Finally, the Kha'ak and Xenon can never be made friendly, no matter how hard you try or how many people you murder in their sectors, so don't unnecessarily do that. :P


TL;DR: Don't shoot peeps without reason, finish your missions and eat your vegetables. People will like you.

considering how much information and help i got, alot of that seemed quite unneccesary. A+ for effort tho

im not sure if the answer is hidden in that wall of text, but to keep things simple, i'll rephrase my question. Will raising reputation with a faction, make their enemys hate me?

Unless you do a mission that requires you to do something negative to another faction(destroying/stealing ships), it will not effect your standing.

I did the humble merchant start and have managed to max out ranking with all the primary races, Terran, Argon, Boron, Paranid, Split, Teladi, Goner and am even friendly with the Yaki. Only pirates hate me.

Yeah the only races you an truly make friendly to the point where they don't attack are Argons, Split, Boron, Paranids, Terrans, Teladi, Goner, and Yaki. Pirates, the ones called that and not Yaki, at best you can get them to seldom attack your property. Xenon and Khack will forever hate you. As to building up rep. Sure you can do attack missions. But, all the races offer missions that are not just attack. Station Building, Trasport (cargo and people) and the always available unless your rep sucks ability of actually trading with them gains you reputation.

I have figured out a way to make firends with the pirates and the yaki, also just s side note sometimes there is a bug where they will still be mad at you for shooting at their ships in the past, best thing to do it message the captain or pilot and tell them it was an accident they turn blue if not the first time then the second time.

I always have a 'punchingbag' race in my games. Paranids and Borons are my usual targets. If i want peace a few missions raise reputation quite fast.

You can be friends with pretty much every faction, including Yaki and pirates. I'm not sure how you pissed them off but if I had to guess, you have done missions that aren't exactly beneficial to your rep. You might have picked up a mission in Boron space to kill a Split trader or something, which naturally will make you lose Split rep.

In short no, at least not without modding the game.
The Kha'ak, Pirate and Xenon and Yaki (i think) don't have reputation ranks in vinilla, i can't remember if the Yaki have ranks that you can earn as i'm up to my neck in the Litcube's Universe mod for X3 Albion Prelude and that adds ranks for Pirates and Yaki.
