station setup help please
I played the game for a little while ( 1-2 months if that ) and thought that my mercury's are gathering money slowly, and since 9 of them where destroyed by pirates, i thought a station would be more easyer and more money making than just ships. I have scanned through the internet to see if there are any Great step by step guides on setting up a lets say Cahoona bakery :), if your a intelligent fella, then please reply to this topic with a great helpful link, or type up one, Many thanks - 145 :)

I'm not getting into closed loops just yet, but - First, if you have the money - About 500,000 credits, if I recall right - Hire a TL (Transport Large) like the Argon Supply Mammoth hanging around in or near Argon Prime or Cloudbase Southeast. Talk to the captain, hire the ship, talk to the captain again, have it dock with the nearby Shipyard.

Once it's docked - Buy the station from the shipyard (You should have a trading system extension by now, so no need to dock yourself) and load it into your hired ship. Order the captain to go to sector, then put it somewhere near, say, The Wall - Somewhere with argnu beef creating Cattle Ranches and SPPs(Solar Power Plants). Once you and the TL are there, order the captain to Drop my Freight Here.

Then pick a relatively close position to the center of the sector. Use the Insert key to switch between the horizontal and vertical planes, the numpad keys (Including Big + and - to zoom in/out) to position (8462 keys) and rotate(7913 keys) your factory. Tap Enter and you'll be treated to a brief cutscene of the deploying of your brand spankin' new factory. Stock it well, and keep its prices reasonable, and you will, as the teladi say, rake in the profitssss.

Good fortune!

i got my ships buying and selling wares, but its the pricing im worried about, it says meat steaks 104 Cr, Vol 4, now thats more than what the cahoona's are selling for which is 74Cr Vol 4, now should i rise the price of cahoons hiher than meat steak, or are they fine like that and will make me profit easily? also under the cahoona's theres a 56 looks like this ---> [56] is that the pfrot or loss?

Hello 145calum541,

Here is the list of the CdrDave tutorial series... absolutely awesome videos. What's funny is there are things he is not totally sure of, but he still explains things very well and gives great information on many aspects of the game. A must watch.

what i can propose you is to not to have to much ships TP at begining. Because, they w'ill be killed by pirate i you'lle loose to much money. If you have a complex station, it will be more attractive and more secured :)

If you start out as Humble Merchant you are generally neutral with all factions so pirates won't be a huge concern. Especially if you stay in Argon/Boron/Paranid space. I found one of the easiest ways to make money early on is to do asteroid scan missions, it is simple to do in the discovery you are given at start while your mercury freighter is conducting manual trading. Just find ore for sale at 50 and sell for 200+ to make quick "profitsss". Once you have enough money, find used ships for sale (you can easily get mercury vessels at under 70% health) and repair them. Once you get enough, get trade software mk3 for your traders and make them sector traders. Start out small and have them start out sector trading around empires edge south of paradnid prime. Or have them sector trade around Argon Prime. Once the traders are higher level get them jump drives and make sure you install 25MJ sheilds on them for defense and send them off.

Best of luck!
