Also, remember the maps are 3d so you'll have to press "insert" to switch the minimap view so you can click on the third axis to find the ship.
And use Roguey's site... it has really great information and is very useful.
http://roguey.co.uk/x3tc/
1. Use SHIFT+C to open the command console for your ship.
2. Use the Move to Position Order
3. Use NUM8 and NUM2 to set the X value
4. Use NUM4 and NUM6 to set the Y value
5. Use INSERT to Switch from Y values to Z values
6. Use NUM2 and NUM8 to set the Z value
Confirm and the autopilot should get you there.
Abandoned ships are in out of the way places, so it's nigh impossible to stumble
across them unless searching.
P.S.: Instead of going through Xenon 472 there is the option of going around through Teladi and Split space.

is the co-ords but those are so much longer than what SirPuff posted? i will look into upgrading my scanner. i know the map is in 3d but i still couldn't find it that way, thanks for the help so far dudes!
I don't know what SirPuffalott has been puffing but those coordinates make no sense.
You certainly can find things things in normal play! Put that tri-scanner on a fast ship with a mineral scanner and go out and scan some `roids. I think all the ships are within scanner range of an asteroid or station. (The DDTC mod actually randomizes all the ownerless ship locations and I've still found plenty in that mod. I bumped into an Advanced Eclipse while simply exploring the galaxy.)
Sirpuffalot's coordinates are in kilometers, those would be -33.0 km 1.5 km 36.0 km on the screen for the adv. barracude in Hil's Joy.
Using the autopilot to move to that position should make the adv. barracuda show up on your map. Did you try using my directions? Anything unclear (I wrote it from memory)?
Power Generator can't be upgraded, but you could reduce the number of guns active in configurations.
Using the 'G' key you can configure your guns, adding/removing them and enabling/disabling them for certain configurations (of which you can have 4 switchable with the 1-4 keys).
IIRC the adv. barracuda can mount 8 weapons. The weapons you can use have there pros and cons. Hitting an M5 with HEPTs is pretty hard, using IREs or PACs is easier (PACs should be replaced with PRGs when possible). IDs have there uses (mostly for capping), but wether you'd want one is up to you.
With 8 guns I'd go with
2 HEPT
2 IRE
4 PAC (Replace with PRG)
If you'd want to go with an ID you could either switch out as needed or replace 1 IRE.
IREs are good against fast and low shield targets and when you slowly want to damage an enemy rather then crsuh him (for capping...).
PAC/PRG are good allrounders and the HEPT are useful against the big tough targets.
Mind though, that this is my own personal preference, you might be more successful with other loadouts, but it should get you started (and mayhaps some other folks will chip in their own 2 cents).
YEEESSSSSS that's amazing thanks!
