Error opening video

So I was playing last night, all was good. This afternoon I played some planetside 2, battles died down and I switch to x3TC. 1 problem, when I hit play, i get "error opening video, check your graphic settings"
So I do, and all the optings for everything is blank. I try reset to default, nothing. Nothing on the egosoft forums say anything about this that i could find.
Anyone else get this issue?

Mebie your video drivers got corrupted and the game doesn't know where to look for them, reloading the video drivers could help.

should I just get rid of the files and download the game again?
