Just bought TC and AP

I would play TC Humble Merchant, make some money, find some abandoned ships, maybe complete the first mission. See Roguey's site (https://roguey.co.uk/x3tc/). Then I'd play AP Dead is Dead - no abandoned ships (the hidden containers are still there though). Find different ways to get yourself out of a sticky mess and make money with seemingly zero resources. After that you're ready to give either game a really good crack.

tried the game and the story pretty much different but somehow X3 game had worse performance on my PC and it supposed to be olld game that can run better on my PC. did i missing something? each time i encounter populated area my framerate going half easily. do i need mod or something?

I don't think my setup is particularly high spec but things run smoothly (4th gen i7, 16gb memory and Geforce GTX 1050 Ti). The game also ran okay on my i5 laptop.

What i remember so long time ago with TC is..there is a memory leak and if you are doing saves while the memory is already full you will get performance problems. So do your saves at the right time. May be it is need to restart the game and load the save for having most possible free memory ingame again. But this will not help if your saves done while the memory has been already full. Ps: Do not watch my X3TC play time..it is much more.

AFAIK The game isn't multi-threaded, so it's stuck using 1 processor. So base processor speed is probably the determining factor on performance.

TC is the best of the bunch in my opinion.

TC: is the original has the best stories. Probably the recommended start for a beginner.
AP: has slightly improved graphics on TC and a new story.
FL: built on AP. Has an extra difficulty layer, with dynamic relations and an overall increase in game complexity. This might make it difficult for new players. On the plus side it has the best introductory plot for new players, IMHO.

If you don't mind mods, both AP and FL have mods to reintroduce the TC story. This would be my preferred way to play assuming you are happy with mods.
