As you are completely new to modding X3, I would recommend using the Plugin Manager.

For all your modding goodness, go to the Egosoft forums here: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=216690

Link to the Plugin Manager is in the top section but here it is anyway: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=265915

Most mods / scripts will need you to activate the script editor in game. You do that by changing your player name to 'Thereshallbewings'. See here for more details: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=218655
Take note that this will change your game to 'Modified' which will stop you getting achievements (if you care about that stuff).

Also take note of the differences between X3TC and X3AP mods/scripts in this short FAQ article: http://www.egosoft.com/support/faq/faq_answer_en.php?answer=2247&version=9

Before doing anything though I would take a backup of your saves folder.

So basically;
- Download and install Plugin Manager
- Download mod (either in ZIP format or SPK format). An .spk file is a mod packaged specifically for use with the mod manager
- Use Plugin Manager to install mod
- If required by mod, in game activate the script editor (careful of the double l's)
- Some mods may require a save and restart before they become fully active

Hope that helps :)

I installed the Plugin Manager.
I installed some "mods" via "install archive" and have them under "installed archives".

But:
I have some mods which only appear under "Packages/Mod Selector" and there can only be one selected at a time.

How do I solve this? I want all of them selected/enabled.

The ones I have there:
- Mobile Ship Repairs
- Pirate Starts
- Bounce

I just added these three as fake patches, is that the normal way to do it? Can't I do it with the Plugin-Manager somehow?

And if I install something via Plugin-Manager, do I have to start X3 with the Plugin-Manger?
Or can I just start X3 directly?

Yes, that is the normal way, the game can only load 1 mod at a time unless they are fake patches.

And no, the plugin manager cant do it yet, but its something i have part added but not yet released.

No, you dont need to start the game via the plugin manager. But make sure its closed before running the game, as it does its magic when it closes

Thank you Cyrow.
I uninstalled the manager, deleted a lot of X3 and got it back clean via the integrity check.
Then I did everything manually and did all "mod" mods as fake patch.
Everything works now as I want it.

It was so long since I installed it last time, I forgot everything. Now I am a pirate and I it is kind of fun...but I am not sure I'll keep playing this way.
Trading is just so much more fun somehow than pirating. Am I ill?
