Can we get rid of Mercenary Companies
Having the computer just magically make 10k + fleets appear from nowhere when they are losing a war is not a fun or interesting game mechanic.

They don't appear out of nowhere. They are hired. Just hire them first.

Its a troll thread, but having mercs be on a pre-game on/off option would be cool, like they do with xeno-compatibility or caravaneers

How? 0,1 seconds after the previous contract ended they are already hired out again.

I agree, an option to turn this off, would be a reasonable answer because it really gets annoying. I am surprised Paradox hasn't already provided that.

Hey look, it's the guy who starts flame wars over every single game feature in the game, starting a flame war over a new single feature in the game!

Oh, and there is a way to turn mercenaries off - when starting the game, just go on the right side of your screen, and check Overlord DLC off.

It's a bit of a band aid to a badly implemented combat system, ships have no real weight to them, they die too quickly on both sides and most of the time its "bigger number wins" which is hardly engaging.

No, that would remove every other feature of overlord too, the hyper relais most importantly.

Probably still works.

I destroy the merc stations when I pass through a system containing one. Not really a permanent solution but it does make me feel better, because I hate them too.

Thanks for letting me know about this mod, our group leader is installing it because we all hate this system.
