Calling in Favors simple instructions
I am quite new to Stellaris. I’m part of the Galactic Community in my game and there is a critical vote where I would like to influence some factions to vote in my favor.

Can someone point me in the right direction or give simple instructions on this.

I know how to visit a contact and make offers. But I don’t know how to turn those positive green favors in.

This has eluded me so far. Thanks.

In the Galactic Community window (click the galaxy icon above the outliner on the right side of the screen to open) go to the Senate Floor tab while a resolution is on the floor and click the "Call in Favor" button. Then, in the window that opens (called "Diplomatic Favors") click the "+" icon next to the empire whose favor you wish to call in, once for each favor. Once you have selected all of the favors you wish to call in, click the "Call in Favor" button in that window.

You can also call in favors for resolutions that have not yet made it to the senate floor, but only in support of the resolution. To do this, select the resolution on the Community tab of the Galactic Community window and then click the "Call in Favor" button (below the "Abstain" button). This will open the Diplomatic Favors window as before, and from there the process is the same.

Note that calling in favours doesn't mean the empire will have the same vote as you, it's just a boost to your own diplomatic weight.

Note that it takes 25 influence to use a favor (250 for 10). A single favor is only equal to 10% of that empires diplomatic weight. It wont remove any of theirs either, just give you a bonus.

This all makes sense and does answer the question I asked — thank you. But now I am not sure how to ask for favors. I know I can Open Trade Discussions with other AIs and offer them goods for “green” positive numbers. They accept. But that does not seem to translate as a favor as the “Call in Favors” box is still grayed out. I must be doing it wrong to ensure that I collect a favor that can then be used in the Call in Favors in the senate. Any ideas?

In the context of trade, favors are a type of resource you have to ask for by number as part of the trade. Somewhere on the list of things you can ask for on the right you will find favors, and then you can determine the amount of favors you would like from them.

Are you sure they accept your proposal? Sometime with 1 green number they reject your proposal few days later if you ask for favor. Also you can check how much favor they owe you in diplomatic screen.

Those "green positive numbers" is just the acceptance value. Being positive just means they'll accept, and you'll get an opinion bonus depends on how high the acceptance was due to a favourable deal.
But that has nothing to do with favours.
Yeah, you have to actually ask for the favors in return for what you are offering; see Tiasmoon's screenshot above.

Thanks everyone. The above worked great. What actually confused me was the tabs at the bottom. Most screens with tabs, e.g. Planets, have different looks and field. The tabs at the bottom of the trade looks identical whether you are offering a trade or requesting a trade in return. I got confused and wound up sending lots of free trades to AIs. LOL. Fixed now.
