Time flows like a river?
Just wanting to know if anyone has any info into what happens

Keep an immortal leader, sounds like no downside. Aka, too good to be true, does something happen to them, do they die?

Leader buggers off in his own ship and you get a new leader to replace them. Does the scientist that buggered off come back later on? More of a story?

You'll clearly see, I don't trust Paradox to just give me something nice with no clause when it comes to scientists researching anomalies.

In my case, that scientist came back once to dump a lot of science research on me, before leaving again. I never got the actual leader back, though. I am not sure if there are other things that can happen.

Aaah, thanks for that info. I'll take the chance of immortal leader (Who probably dies shortly after I'm betting, will update)

Lots of things can kill immortals. Suicide, abduction during archeology, death by anomoly, getting blown up, and I think there is one event that can cause an assassination. Robo leaders have an increased number of things like charging failure and random accidents, as well as a higher chance of suicide even without the psionic covenent that is the usual cause of suicide.

Oh I know that, I lost an immortal to the Enigmatic Fortress once, didn't even give me a chance to get out.

So far, he seems to be fine. I did have to reload back a long way because I realised he had just disappeared at some stage through the game, dunno where, dunno when, dunno how. But the empire was doing fine.
Loaded back, kept him alive (Kept tabs on where tf he was), the empire is struggling.

Random ones are countered by scientist level and bonuses to archeology. Story-related abuduction never killing if you invest into searching for leader.

Cloaking helping a lot.

AFAIK one time part of Contingency even chain - and only if your empire is not psionic.

Yes, tin-heads have a fake immortaility. Psionic is a real one :)

New origin also has an assasination. Not sure level protects against the anomoly death through the madness plague ship. I was mostly listing it all for the OP. Cloaking def helps a lot for not losing scientists now which is good.

Plague ship is easy - just remember to remove scientist from ship if he/she didn't find a mind worms :)

BTW. Curious - synths should be immune to that event. Did anyone checked it?

i got the exile to get the event giving me an immortal scientist with 5 good traits at the age of 50. (they tragically died to the grey tempest)

I have a much more boring story. I don't know if it's still the case now but it used to be that the leaders the merchant guilds sell were immortal. Mine kept getting negative traits until he was useless.

I thought it was my crown princess who got it as she was the lead scientist but I guess the devs thought of that as realized that despite her being in charge of the vessel that did the research.....another random person on the ship got it instead.

I had hoped she would turn into the immortal god empress of mankind as running a militaristic spiritual humanity. I wonder if this is something they prevented intentionally so the monarchy couldn't get an eternal rules....aw.....

Ed: Managed to get it from an autosave and did some save scumming to test it...but got a random person each time so I would bet the devs blocked someone in line of the throne of a monarchy to get it.
