What this game really needs is proper support for distributed computing. Galaxy getting too slow? Just add some more nodes.
I love this game but 90% of it is building stuff and moving ships from system to system.
-Multiple factions being able to reside on a single planet
-Religion mechanics
-More in depth internal politics and culture (Gaining a technology should be impactfull in a societal/cultural way, imagine if we discovered human cloning and society would just carry on without caring about its ramifications)
-Anthropological mechanics (I want to see gameplay ratifications of how space would effect colonial culture and there relationship with the mother planet among other things)
-This is a niche hope (if my hopes above arent already niche) I want the mechanics for a single species on a single planet to be in depth enough that one could have fun playing alone in the galaxy, like in Dune for example. I believe this to be a worthy idea because I see Stellaris being a sci-fi sandbox that takes notes from every sci-fi franchise to create a unique game, and since many such franchises take place where there is only 1 sentient species, I believe this to be worthy of addition, I also think it would be cool to play a game where you dont know if alien life even exists or not (Of course for this to be able to work, the internal societal/political gameplay would have to be complex and engaging enough to potentially sustain an entire playthrough)
-Better space and ground combat (also add water navies cause that would be funny)
I believe Stellaris should be about the grand story of the rise and fall of space civilizations/cultures/peoples, the fact the games go on for centuries should reflect this, and I believe would make for a more flavorful and complex experience that would not be rivaled by any game on the market. It should also continue to satisfy being able to play through all sorts of science-fiction stories and cliches, which I believe the above ideas would help achieve this.
