Larger galaxy mod that currently 100% works?
I think I'm ready for a proper lengthy slow paced methodical run and want to try my hand at a larger galaxy size but there's so many out of date galaxy mods I don't know which one to pick.

I have a 7800X3D cpu so it's better than average and so should be able to handle larger galaxy but I'm not going to go overkill.

I'm looking to play on a 1500 - 2000 star galaxy with about 40 - 50 empires, 5 fallen empires and 3 marauder empires. I think 5 fallen and 3 marauder is the max right?

I'll turn off xeno compatibility and caravaners to 0, lower planet generation to 0.25x, pre civs to 0 and I think I'll be ok.

As long as the days don't take longer than 1 second of real world time on fastest setting I'm ok with that.

Any recommendations?

Don't go above 1500 stars. Game crashing "error systems" will start popping up after that point. And make sure to get a mod, any mod, that adds more system names.

Tone down the empires to > 30. Fallen empires and marauders are fine because they barely do anything. Caravaneers don't matter at all.

And you will still need an optimization mod like the following:

And even with all that, late game is going to lag. There is no way around this. 1 tic becomes 2 seconds if you do it right.

Hi, I'm using that mod and I left everything at default in the options menu popup at the start because honestly I don't really understand it.

But I have this weird modifier on my planet https://i.imgur.com/WsRtF3x.png can you explain how this is somehow making galaxy performance better? I'm getting a random 21% resources from jobs and it keeps refreshing every 60 days or so?

Open the menu for the mod ingame and find the option at the bottom that says something along the lines of "apply to player" and check/uncheck this option. Then save and load your game and the modifier should be gone.

But won't that give me a massive advantage over the AI who're limited by all these restrictions while I'm not restricted?

You're human. You're already at a massive advantage over the AI.

Increases production, but the slower growth means there'll be less pops. It tries to maintain similar level of production with fewer pops. Problem is, with less pops you have less granularity for your economy. Each pop you get will be a bigger swing, but it's harder to balance resources without going too high on one and too low on another.

Your CPU is gonna melt with those goals.

Depends on the difficulty you're playing at. If you're on one of the higher difficulties it will still be difficult for you.
