So I went into the folder and tried launching Stellaris driectly; worked fine, mods and all.
Than I opened dowser and it says can't communicate with steam, but also an update available.
I click Ignore and click update, restart after.... it works.
Now I exit can't-connect-to-steam launcher and click start in steam, it starts normally again.
I'm guessing corrupt launcher update.....
Can still boot the launcher just fine by manually running the dowser, but I can't manage my mods in real time since it can't communicate with steam. Very glad I don't have to change any of my mods for now but it's certainly frustrating.
Did you try running dowser, doing the update and then closing that and trying to open it via steam after that?
Yeah, fixed it for me. Weird issue but easy fix.
