Does Technological Enlightenment work?
I have had multiple obsevation posts over planets and have tried switching them to enlighten the population, but when I do, it says the progress is 0 per month. Just recently, I'm playing a game using a custom human empire and found Sol, where the third planet has a medieval level civilization of humans. I can't colonize this planet since it's set as owned by this other human civilization, and when I tell my observation post to enlighten them, it tells me progress is being made at 0 per month. Is this just a bug and something is happening in the background, or is enlightenment broken?

It will be a fraction. Like 0.5 some something. It will work over time I assure you.

You can even look at the planet to see progress.

It's generally advisable not to use it except if your target happens to be Industrial age or older though.

Why is that?

Currently I'm looking at a 24 size continental planet, which I want in my empire. Is there another way to colonize it, besides bringing enlightenment to my fellow humans?

Why? Because it takes a LOt longer to teach them how to space.

Well, a lot longer seems preferable to never, which seems to be my only other option.

Yeah, hopefully they change that display for the tooltip to include decimals since It's usually less than 1 a month.

Actually I've found that renaissance, industry and early space age are the best for boosting races to space. In the first two, the gain is only like .42-.5, but it's very likely you'll get a message saying something along the lines of "The natives are in awe of the new technology and embrace it into their culture; +30/40/50 points of progress towards enlightenment." And the last one just gives you 2 points per month.

Just... don't try to raise people when they're in a nuclear era or whatever it's called. They'll just blow each other to pieces.

Might as well risk it. If they're already atomic, there's a good chance they'll blow themselves apart without your help anyway.

Monthly progress is 0.2% (bronze age) up to 2.5% (early space age).
