Is there a point to researching Sentient AI?
It will obviously start a huge AI rebellion if you do, but what happens after you defeat this rebellion? Will it just keep happening? or will you get the perks of sentient AI from then on without having to fear about them getting uppity and wanting to slaughter all biological life

You can avoid the AI rebellion you know give them want they want citizenship with full rights at least thats what I did and they didn't rebel additionally synths do stuff a lot more better then any race better research/energy etc they are a very valueble part of my empire so why not treat them like people afterall :)

The flat 10% research bonus is huge. I know the number is small but it has such a meaningful effect, especially considering how it stacks with whatever else you have going on in your society.

besides sorry for double post the other empires in your game can also research it so sooner or later it might happen its better then if you have them integrated with your society because they can help you keep up with the AI rebel advantages.

It also later on unlocks the Android tech where you get Synths the debuff of droids is totally gone and in place get 20% energy/research and mineral boost.

I researched it hoping that the all the machine controlled systems would join my empire, they didn't :(

It's been about 100 years since I got sentient AI, and I've had zero problems. I know I'm just waiting for the spark, but so far, the benefits have been immeasurable. Not only do you get the sick research boost, but you also get sentient AI companion traits for researchers (+survey, anomolies, AND research on par with spark of genius), combat sentient AI (+attack AND defense) and more.

(Put combat sentient AI on all my ships. What could possibly go wrong?!)

Plus, I have no competition right now since the fallen empires leave me alone, and it will be a fun endgame crisis.

I'm researching synthetics now, so that will probably be the powder keg.

And after awhile when you get synths they will come to you and ask you to sign an AI concord which prohibits you from dissasembling and change the AI policy to other then full rights if you say yes AI won't rebel against you.

Yeah, Synths are awesome.

Anyone know how much Sentient AI will deteriorate opinion with knowledge keeper empire? Because I'm a fanatic materialist I perma-placed an embassy by them. It completely erased the effect of having researched artificial intelligence and now from a -50 I'm sitting on a +75 opinion.

However I'm currently researching sentient A.I. and I'd like to know how much negative opinion will generate. You know... as long as I'm above -75 it's fine for me. :-) And that 10% research speed is to good to pass over.

Quick question to throw in the mix -- does the end-game event still trigger if you do not have any robots/droids/synths?

In the past, I've also researched the Sentient AI tech and played for about 50 more years with no event triggered. I've also never built any robots.

It's not required that you (the player) has any robots - as long as someone else has robot pops. And MTTH is around 40-80 years (randomly chosen).

So there is an option to actually give them what they want and not have them rebel ever? Awesome. My Empire just got a bit more equal :P

Yup and they got awesome bonuses so why not? /P but without materialistic trait you gotta handle some disattisfied people -5% happiness or somethin and android leadership allowance is a choice but a choice between happy synths or happy people all in all manageble tho.

However this only counts for ur Empire, Foreign Empire Synths can still rebel and create the AI Faction hellbent on genocide of organics. None the less your will stay loyal and keep ur ethos(if divergence is ok) .

As its a forbidden(or dangerous tech) they will get pissy about it not sure how large the effect is tho as I never had them but only read some up on the wiki.
