What kind of game is Stellaris?

Is Stellaris a game a bit like endless space?
And for those who know endless space, how does this game compare with?

It is definitely a bit like Endless Space. Except instead of turns, your game runs in realtime in "ticks" of days going by. And like Endless Space combat is automated, but since you're realtime that's arguably a benefit, since you have easily have a dozen or more fights ongoing at the same time.

If you liked EL chances are quite good that you will like Stellaris too. It's the same genre and theme.

It's a similar theme (insofar as scifi is one theme), but not quite the same genre- grand strat are very different from civ-like 4x, from depth to speed to mechanics. It's a bit hard to describe in a comparative fashion to civ-likes, so it'd be best to do your own research elsewhere.

Thing is, if I have endless space, do I need stellaris? That is my main concern.
And about visuals? How pretty the game is? The trailer does not show lot.

Also, you say automated fights, does it mean that I have no way to determine the outcome, or to change the outcome of a fight?

And with realtime, isn't it a bit hard to follow what's happening everywhere?

You are able to set your speed (slow-normal-fast-faster etc) or pause if needed. The game is kinda pretty, crazy what they can do with the engine, taking into account CK2 or EU4 are running on the same one!

Paradox makes all their games the same way, overly detailed , too much micromanagement , hellaciously tedious, spreadsheet after srpeadsheet. I bet you can even pick what your empire's leader has for breakfast...DAILY...lol......I haven't played the game , I wanted to buy it , but then I read the reviews , saw a few Youtube videos and it looks to me just like Europa Universalis , Hearts of Iron, CK2, and every other game they "make'. I actually put this sucker on my wishlist but there is no way I am spending all summer wasting my time on this ....thing....I will say this , I've read that you cannot change the graphics settings on it, but it is pretty. That 'real time' mechanic they have , I hate it, I've always hated it and now that it shows up in this game , I hate it even more. It makes a Paradox game seem more like a simulation than a game. You "plot' your moves, wind everything up and let it rip, then watch the game play itself. Like a damn cuckoo clock. ( now that I've given my concerns , let the Paradox slave like followers dig into it , have fun , it will probably be more interesting than this game is.....) Why can't Paradox make a great game? Why do they keep using the same style over and over again? I just do not get it. The graphics are modern , the gameplay is copied from former titles, COMBAT IS AUTOMATED ? Brilliant......when a 'game' is overly detailed you can get overwhelmed by the minutiae....especially if you have to search for those grains of sand in an universe the size of 1000 stars ...LOL ..a universe of windows and spreadsheets instead of a game which is what the heck it's supposed to be in the first place!

You know what is funny about this link? the guy spends the entire video talking about one screen , CHARACTER CREATION...instead of showing us the gameplay itself, very telling, it's what most youtube videos of any Paradox game looks like. Because the games are overly cerebral, just like pen and paper games used to be and that is not what a pc game is about, it should be a balance between cerebral and visually representative coupled with intiutive and imaginative. Repetition kills the whole endeavor , and if you have to read too much why not pick up a book instead? I do not want to spend 8 hrs 'pondering' about what sort of character race my 'empire' is composed of. That is just crazy.....maybe some people call it a good time? When Paradox comes out with a new game I am always very cautious about buying it. I hope they might come out with something cool , I mean people buy their games and some like them but if you look at that review on STEAM it sure isn't a whole lot of reviews for the first day and it isn't VERY POSITIVE it's just positive , which to me is in between what could be good and what is not good enough when you take into consideration the short time people who have reviewed it and played it and the small numbers it just isnt' worth it to me to bother with this game at this time. When it's 10 bucks? maybe? who knows.....it looks like crap to me right now. I'd rather play GalCiv III...I hoped this would be better but I guess not. It looks better but it's a half hearted effort and corners were obviously cut , which Paradox always does. They have a fan base and that is who they aim to please. They do not care about the rest of us. So to hell with them.

There are more than one videos and the other videos for the game HAS gameplay videos. He even has one gameplay video that Im watchign that is almost 2 hours long. ANd he has other shorter videos. Look at all the videos he has that he has made in the last week or so. The ones with stellaris in the caption are all for the game. And for the last time there is gameplay videos, and he does not even say anything negative nor positive about the game. YOu can't go any more neutral than that. And if you can't be bothered either buy the game to figure it out yourself or move along.
