Can't Integrate My Vassals
I've been playing Stellaris since 1.0 and I've never encountered this problem. Some of my mods are out of date these are mods for ship modules and flag colors/emblems. I've gone over the patch notes in case this is part of an update and I just didn't notice, but I can't find anything.

So I'm completely stumped, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

just to make sure: did you try to scroll the list of diplomatic actions? some items that were previously in the trade screen were moved to the diplomacy menu. there may be too many items on the menu, so you have to scroll down to see the missing actions.

i seem to recall that i had the same problem and it turned out that integrate vassal was simply one of the last items in the list and i had to scroll down to see it.

if it's something else, then i don't know either. seems to work correctly for me.

Vassals need to reach *3600 days under your rule before you can intiate it.

*edit (roughly 10 years)

Thanks, I'll try that.

Uh, thanks, but I already know that. I mentioned I've been playing for a while.

No good, the button is greyed out and I just see a message "Protectorate subjects cannot be integrated"

Protectorates cannot be integrated. Only vassals can. Protectorates become vassals when they've researched a certain percentage of their overlord's technology.

Strange, I've never heard that before, was that a recent update because in the past when I uplift a species and wait 10 years I could instantly integrate them. How do I know when they have research enough technology?

When the game came out it used to make enlightened species a vassal immediately. A patch changed it so that it makes them protectorates instead.

I think they need to get 40% of your tech to turn into a vassal. But I'm not entirely certain on the number. I don't know if it notifies you when they've turned though, as I've never had it happen. Apparently it takes forever and a half for them to catch up.

... I can see why they did that, but wow they need to fix that.

You get notified if they turn into vassals. You can make them develop faster if you do research agreements with them. Also, they give you +1 influence as long as they are protectorates, which can become a lot if you have a bunch of them.

Yeah, I've got them with research agreements. But in the more than half century I've had some of them, not one has ever turned yet. Likely partially due to the fact that they are not allowed to colonize, and thus expand their research capabilities.

Well one of my neighbors was broken up into a bunch of smaller states by a more powerful empire and I was able to vassalize him and absorb him into my empire. So the system works, but I have three uplifted species who have been there for decades, one of them for about 75 years. I feel like they're just taking up space. I don't understand why the old system was changed. Was it to add more challenge? Why not raise the cost or add events that could increase the amount of time it takes to integrate them.

Also I think the system have border problems because one of the protectorates was in a system where I already had a colony and this system also bordered another empire who was for some reason allowed to build a frontier outpost. Actually the frontier outpost system seems messed up too but that's another matter. I feel like the devs messed up a system that didn't need fixing. I hope 1.3 will undo these changes.

On a positive note, who else is excited for the 1.3 patch and how they're giving meaningful roles to screening ships and capital ships or how fallen empires can play a much bigger role in the game?
