i seem to recall that i had the same problem and it turned out that integrate vassal was simply one of the last items in the list and i had to scroll down to see it.
if it's something else, then i don't know either. seems to work correctly for me.

Thanks, I'll try that.
Uh, thanks, but I already know that. I mentioned I've been playing for a while.
No good, the button is greyed out and I just see a message "Protectorate subjects cannot be integrated"
Strange, I've never heard that before, was that a recent update because in the past when I uplift a species and wait 10 years I could instantly integrate them. How do I know when they have research enough technology?
I think they need to get 40% of your tech to turn into a vassal. But I'm not entirely certain on the number. I don't know if it notifies you when they've turned though, as I've never had it happen. Apparently it takes forever and a half for them to catch up.
... I can see why they did that, but wow they need to fix that.
You get notified if they turn into vassals. You can make them develop faster if you do research agreements with them. Also, they give you +1 influence as long as they are protectorates, which can become a lot if you have a bunch of them.
Also I think the system have border problems because one of the protectorates was in a system where I already had a colony and this system also bordered another empire who was for some reason allowed to build a frontier outpost. Actually the frontier outpost system seems messed up too but that's another matter. I feel like the devs messed up a system that didn't need fixing. I hope 1.3 will undo these changes.
On a positive note, who else is excited for the 1.3 patch and how they're giving meaningful roles to screening ships and capital ships or how fallen empires can play a much bigger role in the game?
