Player joining mid game

I had a idea for a cool sinario to play once my game had developed on for a while. The premise of the game was to have a player take control of a little start up vassel and help fend of the end game crisis. Only snag is it wouldn't allow him to select that faction when joining the game which was a bit dissapointing. Is this the case or have i just not given it enoght time to see the faction

I'm not sure if console is active in MP games (I think it is) so if a client can use the console he can cycle through the factions using "play X" with X being an integer number, until it reached that faction.

Or just use debugtooltip to see the ID you need to switch to.

not sure he can unfortunatly as the game is in Ironman mode

Ah ye in ironman you can't use console.

You should try playing as a Marauder, Guardian, or Space creature, just a fun way to mess around. Use the “survey” command to survey every planet/star.
