Exhausted with the stupid mechanics in the game, really wish the devs would stop with DLC & fix things.
Seriously its reaching the point where the games not even worth playing, let alone buying more DLC. I was considering getting the new Aquatic DLC, but now I've reconsidered. This is due to issues and dumb mechanics still not addressed:

1. Border Close MIA BS - Essentially another empire will close their borders to you, but if you have ANY ship (fleet, science vessel, etc) will go MIA instead of just being pushed out of the border. This is extremely annoying and can hold up fleets & other ships for very long periods of time.
2. Late Game Lag - I don't know what PDX int. has done to address this, but any claims of late game lag being fixed I will just outright ignore and sum up to fanboi service. Its so obvious how bad it is, but I gave up hope a long time ago this would ever be addressed,
3. Stupid AI - Seriously every game I play, the AI makes the dumbest decisions I have ever seen. Their fleets are weaker than the Argentine Navy during the Falklands War, their planets are ridiculous in what they build, and they make the dumbest political decisions ever. Without AI mods, there's really no challenge these days imo.
4. Empire Sprawl Mechanic - Alright I understand the idea of Empire Sprawl, but its so bad that expanding into other planets becomes a managing chore, rather then a fun thing to do. I've also heard its even worse in 3.3, so that's fun to look forward to. Seriously I got so sick of it, I installed a mods to nerf it a ton (for players and AI at least).
5. Fleet management reinforcement - I love the idea behind this, but like a lot of things PDX implements its a messy and buggy mechanic. I've lost count of the amount of times my fleet composition is ruined because of this bug. For some reason the ship reinforcement just bugs out and I have to manually remove extra ships, sometimes they will create entirely new fleets rather then reinforce, & to top it off there's no way to lower the amount of ships you have without disbanding entire ship times. Example of a common bug: I have a fleet of corvettes of various Designs (PD, Missile, Interceptor, etc) and lets say I want 10 PD, 5 Missile, & 15 Interceptor Designs; well a common bug I experience here is the fleet manager will instead build 15 PD, 15 Missile, and 5 Interceptor. Essentially, it will build the wrong ship type/amount. The cherry on top, there's no easy way to reduce the 15 PD to 10 without disbanding all 15 PD designs. Which results in wasted resources/time.

I love this game due to its uniqueness and content, but the bugs & dumb mechanic changes are becoming too much. I wonder who is testing these things and providing feedback, but also wonder if PDX even listens to feedback. This post will either piss people off or end up like a fart in the wind, but I felt it just needed be said. Also I refuse to make a PDX account to report these issues on their forums as I'm almost certain my concerns/feedback have already been reported, so it would be a waste of time.

1 - True
2 - Always under improvement, but probably will never be 2200 levels of speed in 2400 with 10k pops in the galaxy.
3 - 3.3 apparently improves quite a bit.
4 - If your issue is having to manage it, then 3.3 would be better for you since you don't have to manage it anymore because it's not possible to.
5 - I've never had issues with reinforcements and broken fleet compositions (but I rarely have more than 2 or 3 designs in the same fleet, and not of the same ship hull), but it is possible to fix the composition without disbanding the excess ships created if you know how to work with it.

"Also I refuse to make a PDX account to report these issues on their forums as I'm almost certain my concerns/feedback have already been reported, so it would be a waste of time. "
Then it's an equal waste here since your feedback won't reach them.

Eh don't really care if PDX see's this. Just wanted to flame the current status of the game, because it gets too much praise for how buggy it is imo

1. Border Close MIA BS -- There are a few mods that give you the ability to change the border issues. I'm not aware of any that fix the double standard of ships already within the borders.

2. Late Game Lag -- Read through this guide: https://respawnfirst.com/stellaris-pc-optimization-guide/ Also, adjust 'planet habitability down to the lowest setting for best performance in the mid-late game. There are several mods that have various methods of improving performance as well.

3. Stupid AI -- The best current mod is Starnet/Startech https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1712760331

4. Empire Sprawl Mechanic -- It's pretty easy to efficiently keep up with the sprawl changes, especially for empires that only have one factor that affect things. Many players will make certain planets specialize in maintaining the sprawl mechanic, which makes it a lot easier to micro manage.

5. Fleet management reinforcement -- This has always been an issue, but it is manageable. I usually have fleets covering sectors with a chokepoint or two. Make a space station be their respective home and keep them reinforced manually. You'll have less stragglers to deal with. There have been mods that removed empty fleets, but I don't know that they are maintained or work.

Thanks for this and I appreciate your advice. I funnily enough already use Starnet AI, but its the principle of having to add mods to do what PDX should already be doing. That goes for the Border Close MIA issue. I do already have 4 planets that specialize in reducing sprawl, but its just another chore imo. I'll look into the guide about the late game lag, but would love some clarification on the habitability portion of your comment. Not sure what you mean by turning down planet habitability, but some links to performance mods would be great as I suck at setting up mods (thank god for IronyModManager). The feelt management issue isn't a huge issue for me either, but like I said its just another chore that disrupts gameplay.

If you reduce the number of habitable planets you reduce the amount of pops that will be created during the game which reduces the lag.

Oh yeah, I knew this one already. Thought you meant something in game, but I already have it at the lowest point lol
