Sentient Planets?
I saw a planet that had an "exofungus infestation" and I couldn't help but think of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Has anyone come across an event where a planet can gain sentience? I know there's the psionic "ocean" that can sometimes be found, but I think it would make for an interesting event chain if you found a colony on a world that could come alive.

Petabe also comes to mind. It's a sentient planet that's being terraformed in the "Powers That Be" stories. In that setting, it's not just the minerals that are thinking/acting...

If you're playing as a Hivemind, you can unlock a tradition that lets you assimilate planets into your Hivemind network. This makes it impossible for any pop that isn't part of your Hivemind to live there, as the planet itself will attack them if they try to land on it.
