Worst and Best Precursors
Any precursor you get at the start of a run and just quit? for me I hate getting the Irassians and the Yuht. Irassians are worse, but both give basically nothing compared to the baol (all gaia worlds), zroni (easy psyche path and tones of zro), first league (relic world) or cybrex (ring world). I kinda wish I could disable them as they have never proved useful, neither their relics or their home systems

I don't quit when I get any specific one, but I'm disappointed when I get the Baol as Void-dweller (with a plan to progress to ring worlds eventually) or the Cybrex when I'm fanatic spiritualist or the one that gives you the dumbass pox bombardment stance under any and all circumstances.

Determined exterminator or fanatical purifiers who want to Synth ascention might be good with Pox bombardment.
Higher pop kill rate, MUCH less planet damage leaving more infrastructure for you to colonise.

I dont really understand that, Baol makes voidborn actually able to settle planets, and cybrex gives bulk alloys, how is that not useful in any campaign?

For the Baol I just tend to skip planets altogether when I play as Voidborn. I just like the idea of my empire being entirely housed in structures they created themselves. Not so much a "this isn't good for me" as an "I don't want to use this" kind of situation, if that makes sense.

As to the Cybrex... Whoops, lol. I actually didn't get the Cybrex a single time since they changed them over to provide alloys instead of robot assembly speed. You're right, it's good no matter the empire now.
Now I just have to actually get it again.

I just don't like it because other relics have amazing benefits and all the pox does is allow you to skip building armies.
Most empires I build that center around aggressive expansion have great armies anyways, so it feels like a wasted slot.
I generally don't bomb at all unless I'm sieging something ludicrous like an FE capital planet - the time wasted translates directly into lost war exhaustion and takes much longer than even a tough army invasion unless we're talking above FE future tech Gundam 5k army strength defense armies.

I believe you can get up to 20% increase in research speed from the Vultaum after you delve into their 'deeper' secrets. Comes at substantial global loss of happiness. I really like the Zroni precursor. Their artefect gives substantial bonuses, and can greatly increase the chance that you'll get good outcomes in the Shroud over time.

Could it be that you are confusing "repeatable tech" with the regular lifespan booster techs?

Because all repeatables cost 55k and are marked with roman numbers. And i would assume everyone to first research required megastructures like the Megashipyard, and all Fleet+Naval Cap enhancements. Then the "QoL" techs like lifespan, army damage, admin cap etc.

Scaling AI, that is.

You do know that Grand Admiral without Scaling AI is harder than Grand Admiral with Scaling AI, right?

Obviously, hence why I was clarifying that I don't play on the true hardest difficulty

You may be right actually, and it is the regular ones, you get like 5 of them for health boosting or something similar. The general point I was making however is that it is very easy to boost your leaders longevity. But for Admin I was in repeatables that had the IV VI etc on them

Fair enough. Explains why you're able to steamroll 3 early vassels and spam research though. The AI is basically playing on Cadet early game (with scaling difficulty). You might find the game more of a challenge if you turn it off.

That doesnt matter. Was just wondering how they got those techs so early.

Do these only appear in certain species or starting scenarios?? The entire 210 hours I’ve played this game so far I’ve never even heard of these other precursors I’ve literally only ever gotten yuht..

There are 2 that require having a DLC (the relic/digsite DLC) but otherwise its completely random which you get.

It's completely random.

Although there was one patch maybe a year ago where it was bugged to give you the same precursor every game, maybe most of your play time was during that patch? Pretty terrible luck if you've only gotten Yuht otherwise.
