Voidspawn Theory
While staring at the store page for Distant Stars for the hundreth time I had an unsetting idea:

If the planet was the egg, thus making the Voidspawn technically a newborn, then what would be the implications if the Voidspawn was to theoretically grow to adulthood? I know this doesn't happen in-game but I mostly just came up with this as a "what if" scenario.

Maybe become a Dimensional Horror? Maybe the Dimensional Horror, knowing it couldn't escape it's unstable portal, layed an egg, or warped an egg from it's home dimension, so the galaxy will be consumed

After comparing the two, I can say there is a bit of an uncanny resemblance between them, and considering how the larvae of organisms here on Earth can have very different looks and functions in comparison to their adult counterparts (Ant Queens that have wings before shedding them to build a nest) this could really be the case. It could have been laid by another Dimensional Horror that originated from OUR universe.
Or it could be it hatches as an adult. Although that would be boring.
