Nomadic Empires?
So I just saw that there are nomadic empires in the game...
Is there any way to play as one? Does it require a DLC or something? I'd buy that in an instant.

No, unfortunately, that would be cool though. Be like the Quarians from Mass Effect.

there arent really nomadic empires, there is one nomad fleet but they aren't a real faction, they dont have rules in place to build ships or some such, what they do happens in events and is scripted.

The Marauders are also refered to as nomads, but they just sit in thier 3 systems and send out raiding parties, unless a great khan shows up, at which point the are a fanatic purifier more or less and then if the khan dies they become a normal empire..

TL:DR There isn't actually any nomadic empires it is all pure flavor text.

Khan is nothing like a Purifier. You just surrender to them and not lose anything, then afterward defeat the small nations/marauder they become.

I was refering more to the fact that the Khan is at war with everything that hasn't surrendered, isn't interested in co-existance(unless you pay tribute) similiar to how purfiers are a total war empire that will not engage in diplomacy with anything beyond a "We are going to do Our best to exterminate every last one of you and salt the land you once owned, Unclean Abominations"

Khan requires no war declaration to attack, however Purifiers do. There is no universal opinion malus like Purifiers (barring if your a Purifier/Genocidal), and the Khan is Fanatic Militarist, not Fanatic Xenophobe.

Also you can do diplomacy with the Khan, and it’s successor (if you get that outcome) is pretty friendly.

Perhaps it is that I never surrender to the Khan, but that entire Crisis reminds me of what it looks like from an outside perspective when I play FP, at near constant war with everything that borders me, constantly growing consuming more territory while the rest of the galaxy gets more and more worried, forming Federations in a desperate attempt to slow the expanse. I have never surrendered to the Khan so I have no idea what diplo actions might be available after you denigrate yourself.

You basically do whatever you want whiles everyone else dies at the hands of the Khan.

No I typically go kill the Khan and any maruaders I haven't already killed before he even finishes taking out 1 empire, I do the same with Fallen Empires if they wake, I have never got a war in heaven because by they year it could fire I almost always have killed all FE's, this might change soon as I am playing fewer total war empires so I might be more diplomatic in my future games.
