death god primitive / protectorate or infiltrate?
To state it clearly: I don't have the new Necro... DLC right now. And I'm playing in German, so some of the english words I use might not be the precise expressions from the game.

To my question: I found a primitive civilization I'm observing for a while, and while thinking about claiming that world now (they're far enough advanced technologically, and they live in a desert, I could use people who like dry worlds without terraforming), I noticed they have a death god on their world, adding +200 % attractiveness to spiritualism. I'm not spiritual myself (but materialistic/egalitarian) and given the weird goals those spiritual fractions tend to set, not entirely keen on getting a world that's practically begging for respawning one of those.

But how much of an issue is it? Should I still try to make it mine by inflitrating? Or what happens when I enlighten them to a protectorate? Not playing for long and not entirely clear about the consequences of my options. How much should I worry about that death god?

Dealt with it myself now by taking the world by infiltration and gene-engineering them into conformists. No idea if that solves it but should be a step into the right direction.

From the point of view of me, the friendly-neighbourhood assimilator-kun, i'd say: "Oh, another pack of loyal slaves found! YAY! GET THEM BOYS!"
But since you're not me... well, you should probably just blow it up with a world destroyed. xD
It's probably going to make a mess of your factions, especially since you're materialist, a direct opposition.
Or at least confine all that lives on that world, only to that world so they don't spread around and create an even bigger mess.

Urthemiel, thank you for your opinion. If they leave the planet, they also leave the area of that death god since it's a planet attribute, not a racial one. I just had (and still have) some strong spiritual fraction anyway with quite weird ideas like don't mess with tomb worlds (why if I by now have 3 kinds of pop with +100 % habitability for tomb and one of them even native on tomb in addition) and didn't want it to get much stronger by a big world (22) more or less completely joining that fraction. ;)

I did spend years to change their weird autocratic spiritual ways into something more on par with my government before I infiltrated them. So being made conformist, once they leave their homeworld, they behave. And their homeworld itself didn't give me trouble yet either.

The problem with dead gods is that the planet it haunts is basically turned into a spiritualist conversion factory. Pops go there (if you have no control on migration), get converted to spiritualist, then go to another planet and start infecting it with their spiritualistic bs.

But hey, if you made it work, great! :D
"Psst, between you and me, i'd still blow it up with a world destroyer anyway."

IIRC the dead god is a leviathan corpse on the moon (had it on Sol :steammocking:) (and why can't I research the corpse for fun stuff?). Can you blow up the moon?

Hey I know I'm like, 3 years late to this discussion, but in a modded playthrough, I invaded a primitive civilization with a dead god in orbit modifier, and pretty much a few years later a death god shrouded avatar spawned claiming the surrounding systems and splitting off from my empire with all the same techs I researched at that time. I accidentally declared war as I thought it was just some rebels just to get vassalized by the death god shrouded avatar, which also annihilated a 15k fleet taking only 5% hull damage (fleet was torps as well)

You should have made a video about it ... how to *not* deal with death god. ;P And apparently I also was right to watch the strength of these weird factions.

But to be honest, I haven't played Stellaris in years by now.

And this is why we don't necro bump posts.
