I will respond to the original question in good faith once. Much like most 4x and grand strategy games you start out weak and seek to gain strength through building of your forces. It is wrong to compare this to a rts as it is not one. It plays in real time but it is a grand strategy game. Where your grand strategy (the whole economics and movement of empires) matters far more then small tactics.
I will not follow this thread so this will be my last look at it. I hope you find games you enjoy.
Maximum difficulty and Crisis at 25x? i seriously doubt.
This game isn't for smooth-brains.
Sirsnoozel.
Is actually a 4X/Grand strategy game.
Okay then.
On a more fundamental note, the reason why you think it’s a bad RTS is because you’ve come in with the wrong expectations. It’s a 4X, which means that you explore and establish bases.
You have to manage an empire with a population and that population will get upset with continuous war (check civilization for a good example of this).
But yeah, you came into the game with the wrong expectations of how it would play.
4X yes.
"Grand strategy"... lol
This answer is not specially for you but for all of those who think they are an "elite" (lol) because they play with a Paradox game.
Because like we can read from the previous posts, it seems that the Paradox games players fart higher than their ass when they think they are an elite.
It is usual on Paradox game forums or Steam sections about Paradox games... Haha.
This game is not hard. It is obscure the first time you play it (if you don't know the others paradox games), but it's not difficult. Un-needed complex for the sake to be complex (and so slow it's become boring) yes ! (Attrition and stupid wargoals for example), difficult ? Haha, no.
It's just a slow paced and incredibly boring 4x but with a great RP potential (with a ton of events and anomalies if you have the dlcs). But nothing more, guys, sorry to break your dreams...
- Should we speak about the malus the big nations have when the tall ones don't ?
Is the Zimbabwe the nation where the research and economy are "almost" in par with the entire Europa or US because they have no malus because they're tall ("almost" because of course and hopefully, the malus is not enough to stop an extended nation or alliance to grow better than a tall nation as far as the time goes ig) . But this is a totally stupid mechanism liked by paradox to limit the expansion from the players, because their Pacifist tall players whined to not be game over in the first 100 days anymore.
- Should we speak about skills tree finishing by I, II,III,IV until X like the fillers they are, because there is no more research later ? A lot of these rotten research finish like this on this game.
- Should we speak about full battleships armadas to be always better than making some destroyers and cruisers mixed with battleships ?
- Should we speak about having so few technologies and weapons ? No variants or modules on weapons to customize your weapons. To change your same laser III or plasma weapon V, but with different damage, different rate of fire, different range, etc.. with some modules. Like are doing some others 4x. You know, this is what is called strategy too. :p
This Small, medium, large, Xl ships slots are only funny if you think that this game have as much ship customizations as some others...
- Should be speak about missiles been almost useless ? Fighters/bombers ?
- Etc...Etc.. Etc... I could spend hours like this, to fill dozens of pages...
And we speak about a game which is 4 years old. And which has four 20$ expansions and four 10$ dlcs... ( 120$ + base game) 160$ without sales and 4 years for this ?. Hahaha !
And i won't even speak of bugs, i've done a lot of games from the beginning to the end in large galaxies. When it's not the fleet manager which is broken, it's the lags which is unplayable and i must look at TV at the same time to not sleeping in front of my monitor, or the crysis be buggued, or the IA to be completely stupid and doing nothing, or.... Etc...
I've never seen a game where something wasn't broken. /facepalm
"Grand strategy" LMAO !
Sim city in space (do your buildings for your economy and your pops to be happy, do enough alloy for your fleets and it's ok, all is good) with a lot of events the first 20% of the game, and nothing more after, rather!
No more diplomacy but this useless federation, and these totally hilarious war mechanisms and non-existent ships customization, until the bugged crysis to finish the game with the same glory as the previous sleepy 20 hours before :p.
Yes, sure, "grand" strategy lol, go out of your paradox games and go play something else, you could avoid to others from laughing when reading your own auto proclamed "grand strategic" elite status :)
Besides IMO RTS games are kind of boring, so if it's bad for RTS fans then that's great to me!
Each month is a turn.
