Planet size
So this is something I had answered longer ago, as 10-14 slots planets kept bothering me more than they should. I was told there was something to increase/fix these horrendously small planets...

...but meanwhile my game is almost near year 2500, and I STILL haven't seen anything that increases planet size. Is there something I've missed or something?

Mastery of Nature perk
ArcticISAF Mar 18, 2018 @ 7:35pm
An ascension perk called Mastery of Nature. Increase planet size/tiles for I think 100 influence, 500 energy, ranging from 1 to 3. Smallest get 3, medium 2, largest 1. I can be totally off about what size gets what, but... something like 10-13 size gets 3 tiles, 14-16 gets 2, 17+ gets 1. (Take those last numbers as not very accurate).

I think the numbers are more or less that.

I have that perk, how do I increase the size.

On planet panel, it is an edict

You should get habitats. I found out just recently that you can habitat anything that isn't a satelite star or asteroid so long as it doesn't have a station on it. A pain you can only build one at a time & they take 8-10 years

You can build as many at the same time as you have resources for. Habitats and gateways don't have the megastructure 1 at a time build limit.

both habitats and land clearance are waste of perk as long as you can grow empire by other means.
mostly this is fanatic pacifict only perks.

for habitats, you can build one per system at time.
but you may build multiple habitats in multiple different systems.

if you want to play tall, do not make habitats or pick planets below 21 size if you can't forcebly resettle pops.

if you can resettle, well, you can pick any planets, and just resettle all pops if managed to get better planet or ringworld.

Do habitats have the same -5% research modifier that planets have?
Elitewrecker PT Dec 1, 2018 @ 7:05am
Yes, as well as unity.

Well you have to grow the empire a lot

I had 3 habitats in my main system once and multiple in other systems - sure one has to build one after another (I think) but you can have a lot of them which adds a vast ammount of energy production (and a decent ammount of everything els)

Current playthrough and I have 6 habitats in the home system & 7 in others. the unity loss is largely offset by the unity gain from the administration building, in my experience each habitat added only about 4 months or so to getting the next tradition.
1 habitat I have generates 130 power & I have 4 that generate 40+ to every kind of research each. You can also just build one for minerals and oonly put droids on it for 100+ minerals.
I think they are pretty worth it for my play style.

Are habitats comparatively worth the hassle? I mean, since they don't have resource tiles.

they have quite powerfull labs, that provide 3 of each tech without any resources, and with perk you can have 14 such labs per habitat

42 of each tech base gain, if you take in account 5% penalty to research, as long as your research below 840, making habitat is good plan.

if you already have more then 840 research, full habitat will provide you will less bonus, then penalty, but this only if you have no bonuses to production.
