Stellaris is full of these sorts of references. "Filthy xeno"; a system named Alderaan; a Vulcan-alike in the Humanoid species pics; War in Heaven is basically Babylon 5's premise; brain slugs = Goa'uld; etc etc etc.
i think at this point stellaris is a reference XD

No. They're a nod to the Tyranids.

I do believe that might have been due to spell check having a stroke buuuuuuuut I'm going to leave it at that so I won't accidentally launch this thread into the political dumpster fire.

I agree, it's most likely spell check wasn't alive "working" at that time.

A lot of stuff in this game is...well not exactly referenced, but clearly based from things existent in other sci-fi.

The prethoryn are the tyranids(warhammer 40k)/flood (halo)/ Vasari (SOASE).

The Unbidden I think are supposed to be the warp (warhammer 40k again) equivalent. Then again, there several sci-fi series that have done the 'extradimensional invader' thing so who knows.

And the contingency is....well generic AI superintelligence threat.

And the end of the cycle is definitely based on something from warhammer 40k again.

Specifically the End of Cycle is based off of more or less the cataclysm that birthed the Chaos God Slaanesh who went off and devoured most of the Eldar pantheon, creating the Dark Eldar and otherwise dragging their race to the brink of extinction. Ultimately all of this is a result of (spoilers for Ancient Relics) the Zroni destroying themselves in a civil war over how they should use the Shroud.

The Contingency has vibes of both Terminator's Skynet and Mass Effect's Reapers.

The Prethoryn is more akin to the Tyranids out of all the options you have above, considering that they came from outside the galaxy. However they happen to have a lot in common with the Zerg from Starcraft, in which both the Prethoryn and the Zerg possess latent psychic abilities. While the Tyranids are also psychically- inclined, I lean more towards the Zerg

I am unsure where the Unbidden are based off of, but players who entered the Shroud and spoke with the Unbidden are anything to go by, it confirms they did not come from the Shroud, and in fact, prefer to avoid it. This leaves me unsure if there really was supposed to be an actual 40k reference despite taking pleasure in suffering ("So much hatred... so much fear... it is... wonderful.") like the 40k Chaos Gods do. The fact that they are pure energy beings also turns me away from the theory as well. If anything the Unbidden were meant to be implied to be the "Hunters" the Prethoryn speak of (as pinpointing the origins of the scourge after defeating them shows that there is nothing there, or it has been eclipsed by a larger object), OR an example of another species leaving their mortal coil via and End of Cycle in their universe, which may explain why they seem to fear the shroud. They could also be expies of the Xel'Naga, but considering how the Unbidden prefer to destroy and the Xel'Naga were known for perpetuating the growth of sentient organisms throughout the universe and were primarily pacifistic (with some exceptions), I doubt this one too.

I recently discovered the "Lando" system.

Everyone knows Lando is not a system, he's a man. Card player, gambler, scoundrel. You'd like him!

Then there was the "Covfefe" system.Obviously so named by an idiot who cant spell.

I have discovered Arrakis in my currently ongoing game. (the Dune) Stellaris is full of popular culture/scifi references.

The entities in the shroud are supposedly chaos gods from Warhammer universe. All except end of the cycle I guess.

One shroud entry line "They should've sent a poet.." is a reference to the Jodie Foster movie 'Contact', btw.

Unbidden I haven't yet encountered in my own games, but to me similar entities have appeared in Star Trek. Maybe Devidians[memory-alpha.fandom.com] from Time's arrow?

Actually theres a ton that is almost direct reference.

Achievement "Last, best hope" is a reference to TV-series Babylon 5.

Achievement "Paradise found" is a reference to John Milton's novel "Paradise lost".

Achievement "Like tears in rain" is a reference to movie Blade Runner

Achievement "View from the End of the World" might be a reference to novel "Restaurant at the end of the universe" by Douglas Adams

Achievement "Distinctiveness Added" is a reference to the Borg in tv series Star trek: the next generation.

Achievement "Exterminatus" is a reference to Warhammer 40000.

Achievement "Stay on Target" is a reference to Star Wars

Achievement "A Hump Like a Snow-Hill" is a reference the novel Moby *ick by Herman Melville

Achievement "It belongs in a museum!" is a reference to Indiana Jones

Achievement "Raiders of the Lost Galatron" is a reference to movie Indiana Jones and raiders of the lost ark.

Achievement "Unlimited Power!" is a reference to the Sith Emperor in Star wars

Achievement "Clever girl" is a reference to Jurassic Park

Achievement "Voight-Kampff" is a reference to Blade Runner

Achievement "Who scraps the scrapper" is a reference to the old latin phrase "who watches the watchers", also an episode in Star trek the next generation.

Achievements "Break on through.." and "..to the other side" is a reference to a song by The Doors.

One of my favorite easter eggs:
One anomaly has the player encounter strange non-corporeal species that inhabit a gas giant. This is a reference to game Star Control 2, which had similar species called Slylandro[wiki.uqm.stack.nl] living in a gas giant. Both species share the same upbeat manner of speech as well.

One anomaly has the player discover that a strange planet-spanning sea on an ocean world is actually alive and is contacting ships crew telepathically. This is a reference to the movie Solaris.

Also you've got the Omicron Persei system with only 7 planets instead of the expected 8 (Lurr would be most upset if he found out)

The Unbidden seem to be based off the Devidians from Star Trek:TNG. Ya'll remember the episode where they go back in time to fight the dudes that cross dimensions? I forgot what they were doing exactly

"I forgot what they were doing exactly" can best describe my experience trying to watch the original series.
