Post-apocalyptic civic is way too common
So I've played several games, and in every one there are several species with the post apocalyptic civic, and they can colonize dozens of worlds instantly while I have to find suitable worlds or terraform.

Doesn't really seem balanced how common it is.....Also kinda breaks RP if you ask me....

I must ask though, why do you consider going spiritualistic a challenge ? Do you mean that the challenge is spiri & life-seeded or playing spiritualist alone is the challenge ? Because if it's the latter then imho spiritualistic is easier than materialistic (by ascension paths)

Plus anyway, habitats (while not being too useful for mineral income) are a must while playing life-seeded/post-apo

i wanted to see how far i can get trying as many different things as possible playing stellaris and then multiply the difficuly along the way with the various settings. just learning to be diverse and understanding all the while making it as hard as possible on myself by not going down the traditional path.

i tend to learn things a lot better when something is in front of me that is a real challenge i can bite into figuratively writing, and very long term strategy play with restricted resources with multiple hard target objectives is something i find most appealing.

thanks to the details in this thread, i might start a new race with tomb world habitation and something other than the obvious, this way it can't be quickly bypassed and forces you to think how to overcome it in a less linear way.

Post-Apocalyptic doesn’t give you Tomb habitability, it guves you Survivor. Tomb habitability is even better than survivor, and you can only get it by taking Cyber path with a tomb homeworld.

it grants survivor which grants 70% tomb world habitability. in otherwords you get tomb world habitability.

Nope, Tomb World habitability is a separate habitability trait, which gives 80% I believe.

And what are you trying to prove? Look at the traits page. You will see Survivor is different from Tomb World habitability.

oh.. well, you didn't read it?
Since you made that point yourself, i got nothing else to discuss until you read it. moving on.

They removed random gen adaptation event? It can give you tomb habitability previously.

Self-Modification I suppose can give you it, had not thought of that.

It's not really overpowered, it just makes one planet type that is usually awful actually useable from the start, though plenty of other tech makes it viable instead of using up a whole civic spot.

(it actually gives a weaker start though) ((4 less food + likely weaker other tiles)) and it's a permament civic that you can't replace.. so.. really.. in the long run it isn't worth it for most empires since you're likely better off with something that helps all your planets, and eventually you'll be able to use tomb worlds using other means like terraforming or adabting.

Yeah if it did actually grant tomb world habitability of 80%, it would also grant 60% habitability of all other planet types (which is a bit of an overpowered start).

However it doesn't, so nothing to worry about there.

The nice part of it is that it works with Spiritualist, so, it's good for them if they want to use tomb worlds.. though really terraforming is the best answer unless you're really straining for planets early game.

Life-seeded is easy when you play as a materialist, just rush droids, colonize planets with them and make them into mineral colonies then rush habitats (voidborne as second perk).
It's one of my most played empire types and it's really good

thats the thing i'm not playing as materialist, i'm playing athoritarian/spiritualist and i'm not going for the voidborne either. try graft that one out xD

Terraforming everything into Gaia ^^

I'm just saying, in my most recent game, of the 5 empires i've met so far, three have the tomb world preference. One I can deal with, but 3 of 5. And that is just so far.

I rarely see post apocalyptic empires.

I tend to see empires as my direct ideological opposite as my nearest neighbours though... :\
