Good thing to remember is that colony ship pops don't get modded when in transit.
bio should be about specialization (each pop great at 1 thing) while synth is generalization (all pops good at everything) yet synth is still better at both
and xenophobe gets completely screwed over by ascension paths. go psionic and your pops are not longer the main species so they all get purged. go synth and your pops get purged while cyborgs, go bio and you survive, but the faction is really unhappy
But other than that it works just fine.
this actually just makes me more angry that bio ascension isnt even good...
The main upside of synthetic is the ability to customize every slot on a planet with ease and immortal leaders. It does cost much more minerals though. If you focus your planets into specific resources then biological ascention is just as good.
Also if you are a materialist empire who synthetically ascends and there's a spiritualist fallen/awakened empire anywhere on the map they will come for you. Even if you havn't met them yet. It makes beelining for synthetic ascention very dangerous on large galaxies.
Slaver empires benefit from biological ascention the most, being able to fully customize your slave races for any task, along with the bonus's slaves get from the various upgrades is extremely strong.
synths get 30% increase to minerals (with, 1 trait), while bio gets 45% (with 4 traits)
synths get 30% energy (1 trait), bio gets 30% (2 traits)
synths get 30% research (1 trait), bio gets 25% (2 traits)
synths get 35% unity (1 trait), bio gets 30 (3 traits)
synths are immortal (default), bio gets 130 (2 traits)
the only other place bio really beats synth is in food, but thats not nearly good enough to make up for losing at almost everything else
bio ascension should replace the trait options you have with ones that have double their standard power (maybe triple) and give a trait that makes leaders immortal, but without costing more trait points
You just have to change all of your species to the same template at the same time no? It will take extremely long and stop society research for the duration, but then there are no genetic impurities.
That's pretty stupid. Is this actually intended or just a bug?
