Game keeps resetting

Twice over the last week, I've found that all my mods are deselected in the launcher. When I launch the game, I get the 2.1 info pop-up (as if it was just installed) and my save games are broken (even though they were started on 2.1). Once was annoying, twice is concerning as I can see this keep happening. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Sounds like something is preventing Stellaris from writing to C:\Users\{USERNAME}\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\settings.txt (Windows, not sure about the others but should be the same file being interfered with)
Probably your anti-virus.

Use a mod manager, I can provide a link if needed. You can enable mods really fast and easily.

I did, but I actually can't remember what I did. I did change anit-virus a month after I posted this - it could have been that.
