My idea for Rachni (Mass Effect) species, what do you think?
I'm new to this game, but I already like creating Species and I thought I'd try to pull one of my favorites from the Mass Effect series. I've designed this off how I perceived them being during the war, any opinions from you guys would be greatly appreciated!

Traits: Rapid Breeders, Resilient
Ethics: Militarist, Fanatic Xenophobe
Authority: Imperial (figured that would work best with the "Rachni Queen" -shrug-)
Civics: Warrior Culture, Fanatic Purifiers

I'm not a lore junkie from Mass Effect, but I've played the games more than once and this is what I've come up with based on what I've picked up from the games. What do you guys think, any suggestions are most welcome!

Edit: Just realized I can make them hive mind, but I'd have to pick Gestalt Consciousness ethic and that disables the tutorial which scares me slightly! Also it would be the only ethic I could pick ;_;

Absolutely hive mind.

Don’t worry about failing. Hivemind has a learning curve that you need to stumble through to appreciate

So you think Hivemind alone is better than the other ethics I could pick up?

It really depends on the role playing aspect of the Rachni.
They are a insect , queen living hive mind.

Seems to fit perfect

Yeah I suppose you're right. My biggest worry is that I haven't actually played the game yet, so I probably need the tutorial.. xD Guess I'll have to wait to play with Rachni ;_;

Do you think the other options I've chosen fit well?

They are good pics if you want to play hard and expand aggressively.

You should give your first choices a go and then after a full game try hivemind.

Hivemind can be quite challenging
Get the Mass Effect Relay mod too, turns Gateways into Mass Relays.

I would also recommend getting a science penalty removing mod. The penalty will cripple your tech with rapid expansion.
