Why is there always the exact same species as myself in the game?
I made a penguin empire and the first other empire I find is also Penguins.
Before I made a human Empire. The first other Empire I find are humans.
Before that I made a space snail empire and the first thing I find is space snails.

I just started playing stellaris recently again but I constantly find my own species with a different name right next to me. Its really immersion breaking. This is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I hate it. I am honestly considering to restart the game AGAIN because I can't stand this.

Can there be a modifier that a species can only exist ONCE in a game? With the 2 human civs its different because of the lore but every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time the same exact face. Then its even listed as a different kind of race that I can purge.

There is a setting in the faction defines that forbids duplicate portraits from spawning, it doesn't work and has never worked. Maybe paradox will get around to fixing that eventually, more likely they will just remove faction creation entirely because that seems to be the trend, remove systems instead of fixing minor issues in them.

I do find agreement that if you play with another human species, You should get some sort of bonus in diplomacy. aswell as other species if they're alike. atm i try to fix the immersion with my playtrough because of two human races, that the other ones just left earth some generations ago. yet they're xenophobic and hate my ass but oh well :P

Yeah, I don't mind making some kind of made up story. But when I want penguin crusaders to purge all nonbelievers I don't want to first have to kill my own kind that is actually not my own kind but only looks exactly like me.

I think you know what I am getting at. Its really annoying to constantly be placed right next to, well, myself.

Anyway I think I'll continue even though I have myself as a neighbour because I just found a gaia world right next to me and everything is going so smoothly I can't believe my luck. The systems around me are so rich in resources its unbelievable.

The gaia world I found was in several dimensions and I had to stabilize the dimension when it was a gaia world and not a shrouded world. Pretty awesome I gotta say.

Thats a good idea Astasia. Takes time but whatever. Keeps the immersion going.

One thing to be wary of

I did the same thing, I had a bunch of custom races Id made some as specific AI ones some were versions of races id played. Force spawned them all into a game and forgot how horribly min maxed 2 of them were by mid game one of them had conquered around a third of the known universe haha, wasnt much fun being beaten by own creation

Lol, so it's just a matter of making competitive races for the AI to succeed?

I use mods that add cheat civics (Overpowered Civics) and cheat traits (Precursor Traits) and give them to my custom empires. They all still get crushed.

I even gave my Life-Seeded civ a start system with 12 Gaias.
