What 'bad' traits should I pick for extra points?
I already have solitary, sedentary and I need one point to zero out my balance

weak is decent, counteract mineral loss with a technology a couple years in anyway
Comander-07 Jul 9, 2017 @ 2:16pm
slow breeders is my number one choice. you can research faster growth fast anyway.

I like deviants as the reduced ethics attraction isnt a problem for me as I never have to deal with extra factions
repugnant because I go full purger and an extra -25 to opinion there isnt a big deal.

Well, slow breeders hurts you when you colonize worlds and it significantly hurts your mid game when you want to start building tall and your pops mature in 4 years.

So does "weak" im every state of the game since less minerals is always bad and having weaker armies is not good too. I play with strong trait so I cant pick weak anyway. Slow breeders just lets them grow slightly less. But the pops you have work better. And you can always build 2 or 3 robots for support. And you can reaserch fster growth. a -% on minerals is just a big burden

I always take decadent because it has no downside at all if youre playing with slaves.

Deviant+Sedentary+Intelligent+Adaptive with explosive colonization rush.

Weaker armies is trivial. Just bombard them more, or land with more troops. Or take over other species or invite other species to your worlds, so that you can use them as your troops.

(Weak in conjunction with anything that ups science is a really good move for xenophiles in particular, since if you're taking other races into your fold, you might as well make them as specialized as possible.)

Beyond that, -5% minerals is the most insignificant hit you can take outside the two disadvantages you already mentioned, and it is, as previously said, negated by powered exoskeletons (frequently in the first batch of techs), and any non-spiritualist can just build robots for a +10% racial bonus to minerals. The -5% minerals doesn't affect space stations, either.

I often take repugnant. I'm just going to conquer everyone anyway so I figure I may as well get the party started.

Came here to see what people chose. I seem to be outnumbered but I choose non adaptive almost every time because once you get pops from other planet types you can colonize anything anyways + tech tree will eventually solve the problem anyways.

I go with repugnant and fleeting in a pinch
Jynn Jul 9, 2017 @ 8:49pm
I take:

Repugnant (usually conquer anyways, so doesn't matter)

Sedentary (i discourage migration usually)

Weak (can counteract with technology)

Lower habitat still limit your max hapiness and reduce growth, honestly if you're going to pick that just pick slow breders and solitary.

Weak is probably the best choice. I like sedentary too since it has little negative impact for most of the game (only downside is when you have a lot of full planet and a lot of empty planet.

Deviant can be interesting, but it'll probably end up harming your influence gains in the long run.

Mostly avoid non adaptive, solitary and decadent (unless you use slave).

Non adaptive works pretty great imo. The -10 is nothing if you rush Gaia terraforming. The Intelligence plus minerals plus energy you get in return for -10 habitability is pretty huge. Plus with the ability to build Ring Worlds and Habitats you won't even notice the -10. You can also remove it later on if you want.

Non-adaptive is usually what I go for, it's the only negative trait that gives +2.
